Please help. Northstar freeze plug.

Hello guys. I have a 2001 Seville STS, a freeze plug (core plug, welch plug) fell out. The plug is (was) located on the rear of the left cylinder head, left front corner of the engine bay, behind the water pump housing. I can't upload pics because I'm posting this from my phone but even if i could it would be hard to see the hole, it is barely visible, it's somewhat blocked by the water pump belt as well as the housing (have to look very closely at a strange angle). I have already bought the new plug, but how do I access the hole to install? Does the entire housing have to be removed? If so, how involved is this going to be? I've already removed the air filter box/ducting, water pump belt shield and disconnected the hoses from the housing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ping, pong.... this could go on for a while...

At the end of the day, Jake is one of the last keeping these older Northstars viable. So he gets (earns) a lot of slack. And the dedication (CNC machine, learning G-code, ...) is evident... and thanked.

A whole bunch of things conspired together to screw up the transaction here, leaving two unsatisfied people... MC you should look at that other thread with the studded engine, you might be able to negotiate much better than $4500...

And after you get your Seville going maybe we should have our own boston club :yup:
Guys, I do not want to get in the middle of this and am certainly not going to take sides. You have both stated your versions of what happened. Neither of you will change your opinions. "I said", "You said" can go on forever and accomplish nothing. I would suggest that this thread has run it's coarse and would probably be in everyone's best interest if it was put to sleep since the transaction seems to have been terminated and a refund has been issued.
I repeat. I am not a string puppet. I don't have to sit back and tolerate that sh!t, I'm surprised I took it for so long. But you are your father's string puppet. At the age of 23 I'm surprised you can't handle purchasing an engine on your own.

Again; I said if I have the time, I wanted to bring the engine in person down to Boston and I would try to offer something for the engine and stud kit in the condition it was in because I felt bad you had to spend so much money to fix that STS of yours. Paying to have that shipped up here would have totalled the value of it. Cores are not worth $300 for shipping, especially in unknown condition.
Yeah Ranger you're right as usual. I have to have a STS ready by tomorrow noon and it won't assemble itself.
I do agree. It sounds like a good solution for MC's car. That engine would probably last him for years.

i agree thing he could do better with the other thread but would have to find a Mechanic or shop that would be comfterible with doing the job since his is a 2001 and the one for parts is a 99 he would have to get the entire cradle drivetrain and just put it up in his i wonder if he would want to put the drivetrain of a 99 into his 01 i know i would if it where documented

Oi  didn't think of that... ugh. That's a nonstarter. Yes you could do it... probably... if you could get a dealer to reprogram the PCM after learning its for the wrong model year.
unless he swapped the PCM from the 99 also
but what els is changed ?
i know its been mentioned and talked about a few times i think its been done with just using the engine from a 99 in a 2000 plus or a 2000plus in a 99 or older i forget but it thing some have done it but i don't think anyone ever swapped entire engine trans and pcm out before
Jake, I was present for all but one of your conversations with my father, he never raised his voice one decibel, never blamed you for the flood, only said that if the engine was ready when you said it would be, my car wouldn't have been flooded. Me and my father got into a screaming match on the phone, not you and him. He felt i was being led on and lied to. IF he had called you that day, he probably would have had plenty of French words for you. I've felt like saying plenty of things to you, but I have self control.

Why is my father involved? Because I don't have $4000 sitting around in one lump sum, and I'd rather pay my father back then get a loan and pay interest. Delays aside, you can't deny the fact that you continuously and repeatedly lied to me about ship dates and barely made any attempt to contact me and keep me informed. I never talked you into building an engine, I asked if you would after what had happened with the last engine you had shipped. You told me that you wanted me to be present when the engine arrived at the shop and while it was unboxed. I told you that I would have it no other way, and we started talking payment. And nobody has pushed your buttons since day one. Is requesting a reason for multiple missed ship dates a button pusher for you? And did I understand post #379 correctly: you threatened to use my engine in another car to teach me that you weren't my puppet? $2000 does not make you my puppet, but it does obligate you deliver the product I ordered on time, the time you gave me, and you FAILED.

Ranger, nobody should be taking sides, and no matter what is said here, nothing will change my situation, or the fact that this transaction didn't work out. But I'm not going to sit here and read jakes twisted stories and facts. If you want this back and forth to stop, by all means go ahead and lock the thread, but I think it's only fair that any member that will potentially read this thread should hear how this particular customer was treated.

I think both sides have been well stated. I hope everything works out well for you both.
