It was a beautiful day for some beautiful cars yesterday. Had a great time and got honorable mention, which was great considering the fantastic cars there.

Here are a few pics:

The Red Coupe Deville had 7,000 original miles and the Silver Eldorado Convertible had 5,000 original miles... both owned by the same guy. The son drove one and he drove the other... reminded me of my Dad and I.

The Cadillacs took home the most trophies!

Take care,
Elias

Sweet pics! Looks like I'm not the only one who went to a car show last weekend!

Many thanks for the great pics and congrats on the honorable mention! Wow, that DeVille is "cherry." Love the Eldorados, too. Wish my '77 was a ragtop, but the astroroof is pretty cool.

The thing I really like about car shows is talking with the owners...you can (and often do) spend lots of time talking to the person, finding everything out about the car. For example, when we saw that '57 New Yorker coupe yesterday, we sat and talked with the owners for like a half an hour....total strangers we've never met before.

Wow, great pics. I wish we had shows like that around here... all we have is about 1000 red or orange pick ups, a few 40 fords, a million tri-year Chevy's, and some rat rods. The usual stuff. Hardly any Cadillacs. And when you actually do see a caddy, it never gets anything good. They don't like luxury cars down here. That is, unless they're sitting on 24s.

Lovely pics, I'd choose the '96 FWB as the best car ;)

I love talking with people who ask about Betty at car shows. Since the Impala was the best-selling car in America by a wide margin back in the Sixties, a lot of people had a car like mine or knew somebody who did. Also, the four-door hardtops are more rare than the two-door cars nowadays, so she's stands out among many of the cars there (station wagons are also huge now).

I took Betty to a show on Saturday (haven't transferred the pics from my camera yet), and there was a '64 Impala SS that I've seen before at local shows. It's on air bags and customized a bit, but it hasn't been fully pimped. Plus it has a great plate: JUNKB4.

I talked with the owners quite a bit Saturday; they loved the OEM-style upholstery I have in Betty, and even though I haven't done anything more than spray engine degreaser and replace some of the decals, they complimented her under the hood as well. The fact that I have the original 327 engine also gets compliments (JUNKB4 was a 327, but like many classic Chevys, it has a 350 crate motor now).

Didn't win any trophies at last week's show, but a few weeks ago, I took Betty to the annual show put on by the Business & Economics Club at Western Oregon University. The club voted Betty first-place for the People's Choice award. I was surprised and very flattered.

Of course, Hoover always comes with me to shows, and lots of people (especially kids) want to pet him. He loves all the attention.
