I went to Tampa again and got rained on for the third time in a row! Still managed to have a great time though.

At Washington/Dulles you go from terminal to terminal on a tram. Its basically a tall truck with doors in the front and back. A pretty clever idea that eliminates the need for rails or moving walkways.

Inside the tram.

This airport smells funny.

I got to Tampa and my friend wasn't able to get time off work to pick me up, so I walked over to the Enterprise counter to get a car. In the past, my experiences with Enterprise have been excellent. They often go above and beyond to make me happy. This time around, I ended up with a pushy Indian guy who kept trying to force the insurance plan and this PT Cruiser on me. He even went as far as threatening my credit. Twat.
Well, he finally capitulated and gave me the full insurance coverage for $10 by reducing my daily rate by $20. The guy next to him told him to just give me the discount.

Yay...

Rained out... AGAIN!

I got halfway to my hotel and was overwhelmed by a nauseating odor. It smelled like wet dog and old diapers, so I set my navigation to take me back to the airport.
I walked up to a different Enterprise counter and they kindly offered to swap the PTC out for a Kia Optima. Nice upgrade! Same price.

The Kia rental. Digital fuel and temp gauges as well as steering wheel controls. The stinky PT had a nicer stereo though, with an MP3 jack.

I love this place! The lady who served me started speaking Spanish. I stared at her blankly and said "Pardon me?"

I ordered a hot cuban sandwich.

My hotel. It used to be a Doubletree, and was a bit nicer back when it was. Last time I stayed here I was greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie.

A spacious suite like last time. The Doubletree sheets and comforters were nicer though.
The new owners went out of their way to cover up any Doubletree logos, like blank stickers over the Doubletree symbol on the clock radio and phone.

Finally, I had a moment to rest after flying all day. I indulged in my cuban, which included ham, mustard, and other stuff.

My laptop was being a useless whore, so I bought some screwdrivers at the dollar store across the street.

Yay fixed.

Ian got off work early and picked me up. He recently bought a 1998 Lexus LS400.

We went to Landry's for seafood on the bay, and it was freaking awesome.
Oysters Rockefeller, two lobster tails, a bunch of mixed drinks, and veggie risotto. $86 out the door, and well worth it.

Amazing bayside view.

Ian's brother bought a BMW X5 with a stage 3 Dinan package.

We drove around scoping out the local used car scene.

Next day...

This is the mascot of the Cadillac forum. Lego Stoney has been in my possession for months, and I never took him on any adventures as promised. I brought him back to return him, but Mike failed to show up at the meet.

More storms! Stoplights were swaying and debris was everywhere.

AWESOME corned beef and cheddar sandwich at a nearby deli.

MORE RAIN.

Rick's Town Car. Nice.

Northstar. No head gaskets were blown this weekend. :)

We had drinks at Peabody's... a lot of them.

Ashley on the left. Brett on the right.
Mmmmm... Ashley.

Brett was much taller than the bouncer.

It was farking HUMID.

Ian decided to tidy up his mom's Acura before selling it.

Scoping out the local used car market. Found this gem sitting out in the rain.

A massive helicopter-shaped pinata.

The CD changer even has wood trim. Glove box is below.
Trunk on this Lexus could be bigger.

Fire ants!

Ian's mom.

The guy buying her Acura.

We parked next to this beast at Outback.

MORE RAIN! Flooded streets. We took the X5 to cross deep waters.

Scoping out more used car lots. This place likes Jesus.

Like last time, the weather cleared up during my LAST few hours in Tampa!

The Eiffel Tower... or not.

I finally got to try a Five Guys burger. IT ROCKED MY WORLD.

I'll have to come back to Florida when its not raining. I said that last time and the time before.

Damn, that looks like it would have been well worth my $400 to drive down and attend the meet! How was the Lexus Jesda?

Great pictures Jonas. It was great seeing you again. Hopefully, the next time you come down, the weather will be much better. Unless there is a hurricane out there, November is much nicer.

Hey Jesda,

Just got done washing down the beauty and it is a beautiful day. It's too bad we didn't have it this weekend. Hopefully the weather the in November will be much better and it will be cooler at least.

Looks like a good time. And as always, the extensive photo collection is excellent. I'll try to get to a Tampa meet sometime within the next year or two.
