This will make me sound like a 17 yo kid but I have a buddy that challenged me to a 1/8 mile race at the local track, this will be the only time I will ever do it, he has a 1:2 ton Chevy with the 6.0 and just a couple minor bolt on mods, my 08 6.2 escalade will only will have a cat back. My question is is.. Do I need to turn off the trac controll: stable trac to do a race like this? Do I need to put in in M and shift it my self of just put it in drive and let it rip? I know I will have the better time no matter what but I want to beat him with the best time possible, any suggestions would be appreciated !!

I wouldn't disable anything just stomp on it, i don't believe you have a chance. I did a swap on a half ton truck from a 4.3 to a 6.0 and it was a rocket.... For your sake hopefully he wont get traction.... Let us know how it goes

if he has the "heavy-half" then you are going to get smoked... his truck weighs so much more less that his power to weight over the escalade he will win for sure.

But if it was a beauty contest, your escalade wins.

Turn off TC and stabilitrac. You got AWD and you don't need the vehicle accounting for anything in this instance. Any corrections made without your consent are going to adversely affect your time because any TC adjusts are sloooow to recover RPM on these trucks.

If he can drive, he's gonna take ya. To give yourself a better chance, stage deep and leave off a brake torque not off idle. Let us know the results - video is nice too!!

I hope that 1/2 ton 6.0 truck isn't an SS.... If so you can just save that fuel

His truck is a Chevy max like a 07 I think, 1/2 ton 6.0, mine is a 08 escalade 6.2 awd not a esv or ext.. This 08 of mine feels quite a bit quicker than my 02 escalade awd 6.0 but I guess that would make sence cause it had 60jp more, are the 08's about the same weight as the 02's both are base size models .

Guess who I came up behind on my way to the store this morning.. Lol.. As we hit the double lanes he pulled over and stomped on it as did I , it was up hill but I got around him, as I went by I could see him rocking back and forth in his seat yelling at his truck.. lol I don't think he was happy about it. On the next long straight stretch he tried to pass but couldent get around me at all. I talked to him at the store and now he does not want to race at the track but i told him a race from dead stop could produce a different outcome and he could win. I had a feeling that I would be quicker on the roll since I have a 2009 6.0 2wd 3/4 ton and it does not feel as quick as the caddi.

yeah the roll on would give you a small advantage mainly because the caddi just doesn't tach up so well off the line. They definitely tach up on the roll.

On the flip side, that advantage could go out the window if he slips and the end result could be a spanking on him.

iod03 - To kill stabilitrac, press and hold down the traction control button until the message center states stabilitrac disabled.

Yeah that 3/4 ton has that 4l80 trans geared for torque not speed
