I am looking at a pearl white Allante which is going to need a few minor dings repaired. My only experience with pearl white was with an Audi I had. I was told touch up was hopeless and to paint the entire car. Is that the case with the Allante?

Not sure what you mean by "touch up". If you are talking about the little touch up bottle with the brush in it to touch up stone chips and door dings, it is impossible and will look worse. Been there, done that. I don't even think they blend White Diamond. They paint the entire panel and then clear coat the adjacent panels. At least that's how my body shop explained it to me.
Sorry, should have been clearer. I didn't mean scratches, I meant small dents that would need metal work and respray. Sounds like the same advice I got with the Audi.
All Cadillac pearl paint is a 3 part process. first is color, second is pearl, and last is the clear coat. It is near impossible to touch up from my experience and all the information I have recieved from body shops. Good Luck with that as I have never had any with my pearl red.
Im having a similar situation with my pearl white 89. Someone repainted the doors and did a crappy job. I took it to a paint and body shop who said theyd have to repaint the whole car. $3800
I called Dick Hussey at allante source for new doors and he said the best idea would be to send him my fuel filler door so he can make sure the color matches.
So apparently, pearl white is not always exactly the same shade even on two cars with factory paint.

what panels and what did it run you?
Both where accident damage so they included parts as well as labor and painting and was taken care of by my insurance so the cost would not be relevant. First one was the hood so they also "blended" (cleared) the front fenders. The second was a deer strike that took out the hood, left fender and door skin as well as a headlight and mirror, so I assume they "blended" the LR door and RF fender. That bill was around $2500, but like I said it included a lot of parts. Best thing you can do is get some estimates.
