Does somebody know if there is a PC interface for 1994 DeVille 4.9L ?
I have heard there are chips to convert OBD-II standard to serial...
Couldn't find any for OBD-I so far. I am interested in this topic, too!

I have found the following link;

http://www.elmelectronics.com/DSheets/ELM322DS.pdf

Seems it will work. I think OBD-I uses the same protocol to
send/receive commands and codes, but ascii representations
of those are not the same and for OBD-I, they are car
specific. But I feel that you should be able to retrieve the
codes and send commands to your PC with serial ports.

I will try to make this.

If you use Windows, you should be able to use Hyperterminal
(it comes with Windows 9X and probably XP). But if you use
Hyperterminal, communicating with the car would be very awkward.

I would use the program called Labview (fortunately, I have
this). But I think you can do it with Visual Basic or any
software which can deal with serial port.
