What, she doesnt like him or something?!!

I'm not aware of any way to manually disable the airbag, but if I recall correctly there is a weight sensor in the seat that will prevent the airbag from deploying if nobody is sitting there. I'm not sure what the weight threshold is though.

Yes she does!!!!!! He's just to small to ride in the front with the air bag on. I think there is some data out that says air bags can actually suffocate children in the front seat.
Airbags can DEFINATELY be a hazard to small children because of the speed at which they deploy. IMO, I would keep the kid in the back seat (yeah I know he wont be happy, I certainly wouldnt be if I were him) because that will simply provide more protection in the event of a major collision. It's also probably more wise to avoid the airbag risk altogether.

The seat has a weight sensor and if the passenger doesn't weigh enough, the air bag is automatically disabled. The status of the airbag is reflected below the rearview mirror.
I know there are a couple of lights there, which one is for the airbag?

the passenger sensor only came along for the 05 model year....
Ok, good. For a minute I thought I was crazy for not remembering that light.

...No way to turn it off otherwise that I know of... Sorry. Maybe your dealer can be pressured into doing something if you claim a saftey problem...
Hence why parents are advised to keep their kids in the back seat. Then again, we sugar-coat everything for kids these days trying to eliminate any chance of them being injured or worse yet, having fun. I recommend you have the kid ride around up on the ledge under the back window!

JUST KIDDING!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT LISTEN TO ANYTHING I SAY!!!
