What, she doesnt like him or something?!!nessmen said:I have a woman friend that has a 2005 cts, is there a way to turn
off the passenger air bag, her son rides in the front?
Airbags can DEFINATELY be a hazard to small children because of the speed at which they deploy. IMO, I would keep the kid in the back seat (yeah I know he wont be happy, I certainly wouldnt be if I were him) because that will simply provide more protection in the event of a major collision. It's also probably more wise to avoid the airbag risk altogether.nessmen said:Yes she does!!!!!! He's just to small to ride in the front with the air bag on. I think there is some data out that says air bags can actually suffocate children in the front seat.
I know there are a couple of lights there, which one is for the airbag?Mbai2 said:The seat has a weight sensor and if the passenger doesn't weigh enough, the air bag is automatically disabled. The status of the airbag is reflected below the rearview mirror.
The one that says Passenger Air Bag '"ON/OFF" . :hmm:DDS rollin a CTS said:I know there are a couple of lights there, which one is for the airbag?

Ok, good. For a minute I thought I was crazy for not remembering that light.ctsvett said:the passenger sensor only came along for the 05 model year....
Hence why parents are advised to keep their kids in the back seat. Then again, we sugar-coat everything for kids these days trying to eliminate any chance of them being injured or worse yet, having fun. I recommend you have the kid ride around up on the ledge under the back window!ctsvett said:...No way to turn it off otherwise that I know of... Sorry. Maybe your dealer can be pressured into doing something if you claim a saftey problem...
DDS, thanks for your thoughtful advice on the subject. We'll get back to you after the class-action suit is prepared.DDS rollin a CTS said:I recommend you have the kid ride around up on the ledge under the back window!
