I live 35 miles from NYC. I last WENT to NYC in 1993. What does THAT tell you ?
It's okay to work there as it pays sky high wages, but then ya gotta live in New Jersey & commute by train. After 5 years you'll be fed up with the commute.
New York City is only for multimillionaires. People out in the midwest do not believe people from NYC as to the cost of everything. Where the rest of the country "speaks" in hundreds or thousands, New Yorkers speak in millions.
A nice dinner out in an upscale earery will cost $175.00 for 2.
A fancy cupcake in a "in" botique bakery can cost $5.00. Have it with a cup of coffee and it's $10.00 + tax + city tax.
I am paying $3.00 a gal. for premium Gulf gas. In NYC it's $4.25 @ Gall.
EXXON & SHELL are more !
After a day in NYC, I come home and want to go apply for welfare and food stamps, and I feel worthless. :crybaby::alchi:
I lived a little north of Sandy, in Rockland County NY, for a year in the early 80s. It was expensive back then after moving there from Ohio. I didn't even work in the city. I was glad to get a job in Michigan and haven't left since.
