Lately my 07 STS with 8,000 miles is giving me problems when I try to turn off the engine. The DIC is telling me to put the car in park, red light on start button is flashing and a rapid beeping sound. The shift is in park. I'm curious if it is something I'm doing or is it a switch? I'll have my service dept check it out when I take it in for a peeling interior door handle. It is a intermintant problem so they may say no problem found.

I had the same thing happen and if you just pull back slightly on the shift knob that solved the problem. Had dealer adjust the linkage and no problems since.

As above; seems your neutral safety switch is either misadjusted or intermittantly failing.

If that does not work, have them check the flux capacitor.

Took my car in today. The complete linkage assembly has to be replaced.
Over the weekend I checked the flux capacitor. It was low on flux. I had a tube of flux from my soldering kit and topped off the capacitor. It was low!!
Didn't make a difference. The problem was still there. As for the Disgrontifier,
my car doesn't have one. It was not included in my option package.
