I need help. My grasndparent's '98 Deville started overheating today. I filled it with water (was low) and started it up to get the thermostat open. The rubber hose that is connected right at the radiator cap is just hanging there not connected on the other end. When the coolant gets up to normal operating temp, it all just dumps from this line. Where is the other end supposed to be plugged in at? Isn't there an overflow bottle?

That is the overflow hose.

Did you put water or coolant or a 50/50 mix in it? What level did you fill it to?

No overflow bottle. Northstars use a pressurized surge tank.

It was filled full with a 50/50 mix. While sitting in the driveway idling, water poured out of the overflow hose onto the driveway. Is this normal?

Yes, it is normal if you fill it to the top. It was expelling the excess. It needs an expansion space. The correct level is 2" from the bottom of the filler neck.
