I got to try the Magic Box 2.0 which a friend let me borrow for a week. I ordered the Ottocast p3 because it was just released on 4/2024 vs the magic box which is 2 years old with Android 10. The magic box would loose connection and every time I wanted to use it I would have to manually connect the internet in settings. The quality on the Ottocast p3 feels like it was made from Apple. The magicbox feels cheap. I also like that you can change the colors on the Ottocast p3 and make the colors dance with music. I have no complaints on the Ottocast p3. I was able to download every app. The magic box comes with Hulu installed vs the Ottocast p3 that you have to download. I was about to return the Ottocast p3 because it didn’t download Hulu through the play store then I found out there is an App Store called apk download and searched Hulu and it installed perfectly in a minute. I was also able to download Ring for my door camera. I like the widgets on the Ottocast p3 and the customization for the Home Screen. I also like that the Ottobox has a SD slot, SIM card slot and HDMI out. The remote is also easier to use on the Ottocast p3 and is not huge like the magic box. The remote has a button that turns it into a cursor mouse that you can point like a presentation style mouse. The Ottocast p3 has 128 vs 64 gig memory and twice the ram. It is way faster and more responsive. The Ottocast p3 is $30 more but it’s so worth it. Ottocast also makes an adapter that will give you a HDMI input so you can connect your TV stick of your choice. The only thing bad about it is that you don’t get the touch screen.

Yes it sure does. You don’t need any lock pick device. It has a SIM card slot, sd card slot & hdmi out. It is a powerful little sucker. Also it has 128 gig storage, 8 gig ram, dual Bluetooth and more. Twice the ram and memory as magicbox 2.0. Magicbox 2.0 has been out for years and this version of Ottocast p3 just came out last month. They sell one that comes with the remote. I recommend you get it. It works like a presentation pointer mouse or you can switch it to be like your tv box. I had it for a week now and I like it. I almost returned it because magic box had Hulu installed and this one didn’t have it installed. I went to an app called apk that is installed and downloaded Hulu through there and everything is working well. I can even pull up my ring camera and hear it.

In general, I like it. I’ve had it hang a few times establishing a blue tooth connection to my iphone for the auto-start of CarPlay, which required a restart of the P3. The device can also get a bit sluggish when the wireless Internet access speeds drop but that’s not necessarily a device issue… the app using the connection is the culprit.

It is definitely better than magic box and more up to date. This has Android 12 or 13 vs 10. The Ottocast P3 came out in 4/2024. You can also put a SIM card into it for internet which is cool. There is a phone app so you can use it like the OnStar phone use to be. Have you tried the apk installer which will allow you do download Hulu and anything else? The remote is also easy to point kind of like a presentation mouse. I actually am using it in my Motorhome for the holidays. I have it plugged into my 32” TV and works great through the HDMI. The way it feels in the hand is great. It feels like a $300 device apple made. You can change the colors too. They are constantly updating so it will get better over time I hope. I am happy with it and don’t have any complaints.
