Stopped by the cadillac dealer with a buddy of mine today. The dealer called me to tell me the order number is still all letters. Its been a week and GM has not picked up the order yet.. (all letters means the order has not been picked up by GM yet? )

What does that mean? Is this normal?

A week goes by and GM does not convert the letters of the order number to numbers?

Is that normal?

Thanks

The status codes have been posted several times on here. My order was in 3 weeks before it went to status 3000 which is "order accepted by production control". You may not get all the status numbers between 1100 (Order placed at dealer) and 2500 (Order preferenced). In my opinion, the most important codes are yet to come which is 3800, vehicle produced, andd 4200 vehicle shipped. But the time you get those, the vehicle could be on its way, or have arrived. My order will be in 5 weeks as of Tuesday and I'll be checking then to see if there is a build date or if it was produced. I have ordered GM cars that have disappeared from the status update and or the status never changed at all, and they showed up in 6 weeks.

I appreciate that information and insight. The part that concerns me is that the "order number" never became a number...

Its still all letters..

Does that mean the order was rejected because of some ordering inconsistency.. ?

MHDTHB What kind of number is that?

Do the dealers get a print out of each order as it progresses to an actual order number?

Well either way...Thanks for the insight..

I really just didn't want to have to get the 2005 Envoy inspected and register, insure it again.. ( I just realized I have to by halloween do that nonsense again and was hoping 7 weeks from the date of the order (9/6) would nail that down so I didn't have to do it twice in a month..)

Not a big deal but a pain in the @ss as well.

At least if the car would have had an order number I'd know all was moving along as best it could.

Thanks for your insight..

Are you talking about the order number (six digits, numbers or letters or both - mine was MFBQFH) or the status code (1100, 2500, etc.)? Your post said "order number."

According to my dealer, my order is at status 3000 - order accepted by production control. That took about 10 days from the order date. My dealer said though, that many cars now he does not get a production week. He'll just get a VIN and know the car was produced. I'm now at 2 weeks from order and he's very confident that it will be no more than 5-6 weeks total.

JB - I wouldn't worry about the order number. Mine is a mix of letters and numbers. I don't think it changes after the order goes in.

The Order Number is not actually a NUMBER. It is a 6 character identifier and can be any combination of letters and numbers. The Order Number does not change at any point in the process. The key is to get the order status event code from the dealer. Event codes are:

STATUS EVENTCODES
1100-Order placed at dealer
1101-Order accepted by GM
2001-Order generated to dealer
2005-Order replaced with GM Prospec order
2050-Order changed
2500-Order sent to production, preferenced
3000-Order accepted by production control
3100-Order available to sequence (now the tpw becomes more stable)
3300-Order selected for production by assembly plant
3400-Order broadcasted for production
3800-Vehicle produced
4150-Vehicle invoiced to dealer
4200-Vehicle shipped
5000-Vehicle delivered to dealer
6000-Vehicle delivered to customer

Thanks guys for clearing that up. In a previous thread somewhere someone mentioned that the order is given all letters when input and then when GM picks up the orders then the letter "order number" becomes numbers.. Or so I thought I had read..

Thank you so much for clearing up the fact that the order number does in fact not change once GM picks up the order..

As long as the vehicles moving along its process I'm happy..

I had this incorrect assumption it was stuck for some unknown reason and that GM had not picked up the order again for some unknown reason..

Whether or not they picked it up is ok...as long as I'm not sitting in some limbo land of hell..I'm cool with that.

Maybe in a couple of weeks someone can tell me how to find out the status code that order number is in..

You guys made my day.

Throw back a cool one on me!

For what it's worth... My order went in 8/14 and was at event code 3000 on 9/6. It was at 3000 for at least 3 weeks. On 9/13 it was at event code 3100.

Nex...I ordered on the same day and got 3000 in the same time frame. I am going to check next week to see what the status is. Could ours be produced on the same day?? What color/combo?
