It kills me to write this, but here we go. I took possession of our Optiq 10 days ago and everything has been great, but I saw a post on Facebook about someone's rear speakers not working so I decided to play around with mine ...

No sound from the rear door speakers ...

When I go into the sound menu, and select Fade/Balance and drag the icon around the screen, I go no volume out of the rear door speakers and very little out of the speakers in the very back of the car.

Back to the Sound Menu, you can see below that it is set to "Front":

When I select that, I get a quick glimpse of another screen where I should be able to play with various Sounds Modes, including Surround Sound, but it disappears as soon as it shows up (I had to take a video to get the image below).

Anyway, I've reached out to my Cadillac guy and am considering a reset of the system, but I'm waiting to hear from my dealer before doing that.

Not to be unexpected from a brand new model, just a bit disappointing.

I will update as I have more info and hopefully a quick resolution.

I am also seeing the same audio issues. You would have thought Cadillac would have discovered these on their own during the month-long quality hold in December. Maybe they did and hopefully a fix is already in progress. They should have had one of us be testers. I found the issues within hours of taking delivery. Apparently their Quality Control isn't. And they make such a big deal about the AKG audio system.

P. S. my forum flag changed to a Mexican flag because that's where I am as I posted this.

Yeah I can't speak to the rear speakers not working but the speakers in the ceiling ARE Atmos height speakers and as such no audio would come out of those speakers without the Atmos source. This article gives a bit of information. I feel it's much like a surround system for your home theatre where you get no audio from the surround or Atmos speakers if the source doesn't support it.

I experienced Dolby Atmos music in a Cadillac OPTIQ

All my surround systems since the mid-80’s have had a way to use all the speakers even if the original source doesn’t support true surround. I didn’t go around and listen to each speaker when I test drove with my iPhone paired, but the music felt like it was coming from everywhere (maybe not above, but I figured it would just blend all the music across all the speakers). After seeing the pictures of the audio settings and how similar they are to the Lyriq (as well as reading some of the experiences above), it makes me a little nervous about how much software might go astray in the audio system (and more and more the car as a whole).

The audio fix should not be difficult. The review of the Optiq's Dolby Atmos performance by the guy at the Consumer Electronics Show was totally positive. That vehicle clearly had the fix we all need. Our Optiq was built in November 2024, obviously before Cadillac had the fix in production. This should be an easy over-the-air deployment, a feature Cadillac makes a big deal about. We shouldn't have to bug the dealer.

In cases like this sending a message via Twitter would get a response. But the Cadillac Twitter account has not been touched since August 2023, so that would be useless.

I was finally able to spend some time experimenting with the audio settings, attempting to improve the sound quality of sources. In the area for modes (which has been reported as only showing Front and then kicking the menu back to Audio settings) after repeated trials (i.e., repeatedly selecting mode, watching carefully, and trying not to blink so I could maybe catch the options list) I was able to see that the three modes that should be selectable are Front, Stereo, and Surround 3D. My 2018 CTS Bose system had a similar sound mode selection function, it had front, stereo, and Centerpoint, the last of which I'm hoping is the equivalent to the Surround Mode 3D. Centerpoint provided superior sound quality to the other options. I'm hoping the anticipated audio system update will fix the inability to select the sound mode. Thoughts?

I think at this point Tidal is the only available source, although someone mentioned they found a YouTube video that was Atmos-encoded (watched while parked). That said, the source I use to "tune" the system is high bit rate USB recordings. Even without the ability to select the mode (stuck in Front) I get fairly decent sound.

Numbers117, could you check your paperwork for information on the update? My dealer is looking for a field action ID or anything to identify the procedure. Please let me know!
