Have thought about putting a terminal behind the license plate but think the trunk key is mechanical, Otherwise would probably have to get under, remove the cover, and reach up and open the hood. Cold also hide a hood release cable under the bumper.

What is the procedure for opening a CTS coup door if the battery is dead(without using a tire iron)?
Had this issue a few months ago on my 2014 - there is a key in the key fob, you just have to press a button and pull it out. You can then get into the driver’s side which has a physical key slot.

Never had to deal with the problem on my earlier two CTS models.

CTS coupe.
Remove key from inside key fob.
Look under lower edge of trunk next to where the rubber pad is that opens trunk. There is a key slot that the key fits. Insert key and rotate to pop open trunk. On the left side of the trunk there is a plastic tab like handle attached to a cable. Pull the handle to release the driver's side door latch and open driver's door. It can be helpful to have someone to pull the driver's door open when you pull the cable. The door will be harder to open because the window will not index downward without power.

Yup, that's how it's done. I made sure that all worked when I bought my coupe. The salesman looked at me like I was crazy. I was going to have them fix anything that didn't work properly.
