According to OnStar, due to the 2G and 3G shut-down this year, all 2015 and earlier GM cars will no longer have access to it. They were thinking of making a device that attaches to your car's diagnostics port, but due to the electronics shortage, that idea was scrapped. They are considering other options, but if not, it will be like the 2005 shut-down when all 1999-2005 cars with OnStar lost service when Analog was shut down.

The 1999 - 2005 vehicles were given the opportunity to upgrade their original analog systems. Ask me how I know - but I doubt the later models will be afforded the same inexpensive upgrade option.
