I've got shocks on the rear that are useless at 145k miles. The ride height compressor works fine still, and I have the cash to fix the car. I see the ad for Arnott as I type this. Does anyone agree with me that I should just buy the factory shocks through them? I bought the car back in 99 with a few miles on it and looks like I will keep it as my daily driver. (I'm on the fence big time on a CTS-V!)
I know the fronts seem a lot stronger than the rears, will they seem awful after the change? Now the rear control arm bushings? Should I change them too? I am also thinking sway bar bushings while I have the car in the air.
Has anyone been here and made a choice they are real happy with?

I doubt that your control arm bushings are bad...Unless they have play... Sway bar bushings are a good idea (front and back), as well as the end links on the front. The front end links do not have bushings on them and don't need them because they have ball joints, so don't put bushings on the front end links. If you do, it will clunk even if the bushings are good.

Get new shocks before the compressor fries itself from constantly trying to pump air into the rear shocks. Passive shocks are easy to install and have the air inlet for the ride leveling system. They just don't have the dampering valves to make the ride more smooth. I can't really say anything about Arnott, because I haven't bought anything from them.

Thanks for the info. I am still up in the air here, as I do not drive the car every day. My wife drives it to work and I use it weekends. Now I have the 3rd brake light half out too. Bad bearing up front also. Falling apart quickly. I have quite a list to go through now. Perhaps it's time to trade...
