i have an 03 deville base ... was wondering if i can use synthetic blend or full also heard that models before 2010 dont really need the Dexos 2. is this correct?
You can use either one, synthetic, synthetic blend or even full conventional. GM calls for 5W30, but I still run 10W30.
Dexos is just a GM oil. You can use that as well if you wish, but not needed.
Yup ^ ^ ^ DEXOS is a GM-specified oil minimum performance standard. Every recognized name brand engine oil on the market worldwide meets the specs. "DEXOS" is strictly a GM boondoggle to force oil packagers to send money for "licensing".
Use whatever engine oil floats your boat - but synthetic or blend 5W-30 is what came from the "factory" in your engine. Look at the oil fill cap.
