I have a 2007 ESV with almost 180k miles. This fall I started having issues with it dying randomly and then once it cooled off it would start and run fine. Turns out a simple oil change fixed everything. The variable valve timing would not “reset” after highway driving. At that point the “Oil Life” said 60%. I was well under 3,000 miles but it had been almost 6 months since a change. It has now been about 3 months and just over 1,000 miles with 73% oil life and I am starting to have issues again. I am getting the stabilitrak/traction control warning and now the P0011 cam sensor code. I have read that the cause of these issues is more often than not due to bad/dirty oil. I always use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic High Miliage 5w-30 and Mobil 1 filter. FINALLY MY QUESTION! What would cause me to be having these oil pressure issues so frequently? I was thrilled that it was a cheap fix last time but now I would rather not have to change my oil every 1,000 miles. Thanks for looking and any input is appreciated.

I am in the same boat as you! Do you notice that when its cold outside that the oil pressure gives the most problems?

I live in Michigan so the winter was quite cold and I usually make a point to warm it up before driving. If I jumped in it and drove on a cold start it definitely ran rough but so does everything else in minus 15 degrees.

I would like to add an aftermarket oil pressure gauge since there isn’t one stock but haven’t found a good way to do it yet.

Try Rislone. It comes in a quart and also a 17 ounce concentrate. If you are not overfull, you can add the 17 ounce to your oil and you should notice an improvement. Run it kinda hard, let it rev out. (Or not) Hi mileage engines with or without cam phasers do gum up some. Add a bottle at each oil change. I've used it since I was a kid racing hot rod chevys. I've torn down high mileage engines that have had been using it at each oil change for a while and were very clean. Let me know how it works for your problem if you decide to give it a try please. Walmart has it cheapest here.
