on my RWD '85 4.1 brougham, i'm wondering where the oil pressure switch that trips the dummy light on my dash is? I heard it's right by the distributor but what exactly am i looking for? and also can i hook up an oil pressure gauge to this switch? any help would be appreciated

Just use a brass tee so you can have both the switch and your sensor connected to the same hole. You can get it all at home depot, ace, etc... Try rockauto.com for a picture of the oil switch/sender.

Its above the oil filter. The sender must be retained and a brass tee used to adapt a gauge. Without the oil sender, the fuel pump will not turn on.
