Hi everyone, I just got my first Cadillac 2 weeks ago. I was going to change the oil today, but the filter cover is very tight. I don't want to break it. The engine is cold, so I was wondering if it might loosen up if the engine was warm.

Unfortunately, most people dont realise the low torque settings on these, and overtighten them.
Good luck with that, be carefull the nut does not break off.

Yeah, that's what I'm scared of. I'm thinking that since the filter cover threads into the base, it should get looser when warm. Maybe that's why so many are too tight. Threading a cold cover into a warm (expanded) base. I don't know, just guessing. I'll try it again later after the days errands.base

Never change your oil cold.

Got it. it does come off easier warm.
