since it's being calculated based on various conditions... how many miles are you all putting on it before it tells you that it's time for service?
and what kind of driving do you do?

i'm especially interested in the 3.6.

I've got the 3.6 and the oil life is down to 7% at just over 7K miles. My driving is about 70% highway and 30% city in a normal Michigan winter.
My BMW 335xi allowed 16K miles between oil changes for the same driving. Hmmm....

If you're at 7% why don't you get it changed?.. My dealer did my first one at roughly 30% to be nice to me and now the rule is anywhere 20% and under they'll change it no question.

Oil is very cheap insurance. There is no way I would go 16K without changing oil. Any oil. The best kind of oil is NEW oil.

OMG. 16k miles? One of my cars averages 1400 miles between oil changes, but then it's not an average daily driver. Bert

My dealer allows changes at anything under 40%. With my car, that looks to be at about 3000 miles.

My service manager said that they updated the oil change monitor to recomend changing sooner than before. He also told me to bring the car in for an oil and filter change every 5,000 miles and not wait for the computer to tell me.

5000 is probably the least number of miles he can convince GM to reimburse him for an oil change (without the oil life number justifying it).

My monitor says 82% at 1000 miles. At that rate, it will be at 0% at just over 5000 miles, which is similar to the interval for my CTS-V, incidentally. I haven't been pushing it often, either. I can't imagine that anyone will get 7500 miles between oil changes with this engine, without the car and OnStar screaming at them.
