I went to the first Friday night car show of the year in Downers Grove last night. Here are some of the cars I saw. None of them were trailer queens and all got there under their own power. None of the pictures are fantastic as it is hard to get a good angle and a shot without anyone walking in front of you.

I am friends with the son of the owner of the IROC. I cannot remember exactly what year it is but he is the original owner and the mileage on the dash is correct. The car is a good as new.

The big Buick later down was ridden in by FDR back in the day. Pretty cool piece of history.

Some more stuff. This show is very large, taking up all of downtown Downers Grove. This is just one of the side streets, not even the main drag or the parking lots.

And I saved the best for last. I met up with Elias and Nicole and he introduced me to some other local Caddy fans. I pulled my car up after a few spaces opened and had a nice chat with them. Low and behold, someone pulled up with a clone of my car. Same year, model, engine and only 850 more miles than mine. His was black and in excellent condition.

Elias took the Fleetwood home (before I got any good pictures of it) and returned later with the Marauder. I managed to get a great picture of it in the streetlights of the parking lot that makes it look even more evil than normal.

Some of the night pictures are not so hot though. I had a hard time getting my camera to focus on the right areas. I had a tripod and had the shutter set to 6 seconds so exposure is good but the focus is out of whack a lot.

This is not something you see everyday.

Boy, that Lotus 23 sure brought back memories. A very good friend of mine, Frank Monise, very successfully campaigned one of those in southern California. He went on to win So Cal SCCA championship in 1969 for BRE, Pete Brock's highly succesful racing effort using Datsum (Nissan) 2000 roadsters and later 210 coupes. He continued to be very competitive in Datsun powered Lolas on through the seventies and eighties. Frank passed away in 2004 but continues to hold a very respected place in SCCA racing.

I forgot to mention, the other '90 Brougham that showed up (my car's clone) had the antenna broken in the up position, just like mine is.

Nice pics, John. I noticed a beautiful, stock red '64 Impala coupe in the background of that Nova picture. Love the Riviera vert and the '77 Grand Prix, too.

My buddies and I took my friend's brother's 92 Camaro down to the local drag last night and I saw a few beauties. 1978 Eldorado Biarritz, 850Ci BMW, '69 Z28, etc etc. We were only there for a few, but my mind was blown when I saw that 850Ci. I have blurry pics, will upload later.

Later has arrived:

Here's the Camaro we took. It is in MAGNIFICENT shape for a '92. It's basically a garage queen that gets driven (very carefully mind you), in summer time, unless it looks like it's gonna rain. During the winter, it sits in the 3rd stall of the garage, under a cover. It only has like 70,000 miles on it. It is his 16 year old brother's, but to his dad, it is like the Ferrari in Ferris Bueller's day off.

That is one fantastic picture of my Marauder. I wish you could have taken some of the Fleetwood. Thanks for the pic!

That black Camaro is NICE its just too bad its not a z28. That's a car I'm considering as well.
Yeah, I hear ya. His brother wanted the Z28, but the insurance was much higher. The 5.0 TBI is decently quick all things considered. It's a bit slower than my 4.9 DeVille, so it's probably a low-mid 16 second car. For it's day, it was pretty decent, but now it's slow.

How much higher. Wow, knowing that I won't buy one unless its a z28 as I've already got a faster car lol

How could you possibly have missed the awesomeness that is Elias's Fleetwood?

I am planning on going again this week but I am not sure which car I will take. They were parked down in the train station parking lot near the far end. They are there every week with their cars so I may make it a weekly thing as well. I stayed until 10:30 on Friday just talking with them.

I went down to the local drag again tonight and hung out for a few hours.

Lotsa Caddies. I LOVE the 67-70 Eldorados! So sharp, especially in black.

I love this picture.

This one did a real nice brake stand later and left LOTS of smoke. :cool2:

'76 Royal Monaco Brougham, 36000 original miles.

The GTA and The Superbee. (I love the GTA's)
