AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR Synthetic Extreme Pressure Lubricant 75W-90 in the differential. I didn't need to add any friction modifier by using the AMSOIL lube. Figure-8 turns are quiet.
Their tests were convincing. (They better be true.)

-Mobil1 ATF in the transmission
-Mobil1 10W-30 in the engine

I put Amsoil SG 75w-90 and I added Amsoil slip lock additive just cause it was 7 bucks. I didn't have any noice in my diff to begin with so I don't have a comparison.

My original differential was really annoying with the whine and it whined all the time. When I made a sharp turn the clutches would rumble too every once in a while. That diff had about 25,000 miles on it until it was replaced last October. I have no idea if the gear oil in that was ever replaced.

The replacement diff had the factory 'grape juice' in it for the first 2500-3000 miles. At about the last 500 miles I started to hear the diff whine a little but only after the diff had heated up after a long drive. It's very slight and nowhere as noticeable as in the original diff but you can hear it. Doing a sharp turn under load, the limited slip clutches were quiet with no rumble there. I replaced the original 'grape juice' with the AMSOIL gear lube mentioned above and it still whines a little but only after a long drive just as before. I was hoping for a miracle but I know better. Making sharp turns under load it is the same - no rumble. I did buy the AMSOIL friction modifier additive just in case but I wanted to see how the diff operated with only the gear lube and no additive. AMSOIL says that their gear lube is compatible with limited slip diffs and should only add their modifier if you experience the chatter. With the new oil in I haven't experienced any clutch chatter or rumbling so the unused modifier sits on a shelf.

I highly recommend getting all the break-in material out with an oil change for the long haul.

Before I installed the specter bushings, my diff didn't make any noise at all. After the install, it started whining a bit. Not too bad, but I heard it after 70mph, and it gets annoying on a long trip. Put in the Amsoil, and a few hundred miles latter, it's less noisy. You can hear it a little between 45-65, but at interstate speeds, I get nothing.
My 05 has 31K miles on the original diff.

Amsoil now was running all Royal Purple. I put 75w-110 in the diff, they were out of 75w-90. Next time I might try 75w-140.

I tried the Amsoil, but without the additive. I may of had a better experience if I did. I have fresh bottles of Royal Purple ready to go in about a week or two.
