Nuvin "in" the dash and single din where the changer is?

Anyone done anything like this? I was thinking of getting a single-din receiver to mount in the lower dash where the changer is now and build a recessed spot where the main head unit is now to hold a Garmin Nuvi. That way I'd be able to take my nav with me.

Any thoughts?
