My car was almost stolen a few weeks ago. The steering column was cracked open and I have to go through this ridiculous process to start it. I wanted my car fixed by Labor Day weekend to go to the Hamptons, but I don't think it's happening. I'm very pissed. I don't even want to go anymore without my car.

Thats terrible!!!! Fortunately, I live in a very secure area, so I dont worry about that.... I dont even lock my doors most of the time (for anyone that wants a 94 Q45, heres your chance!!!)

Sorry to hear your car got jacked. I thought I lived in a secure area until my mom borrowed her friends Silverado while she was out of town and it got broken into. I was thinking, maybe I should park up on repair ramps and leave a spot of oil under it, then thieves would think it was a POS and not steal it. :bouncy:

elwesso, you can leave your doors unlocked, no one wants a Q45. Its not the area thats secure, its that anyone in their right mind leaves the car alone.

LOL!!! and another burn for mr. elwesso

There's nothing to program. All they have to do is cut the new key on a blank with the same resister pellet as the original one. Example: if the original key was a #5 blank with a cut of 12345, and the new column had a key with a #8 blank and a cut of 54321, all you do is get a #5 blank and cut it 12345. That's it, you're done. The pellet coincides with the programmed value in the VATS module, the cut is particular to the lock cylinder in the column.
