In the linked TSB, the paragraph beginning with "An oil economy test ......" at the bottom of P.2 also specifically states the proper GM recommended oil level fill procedure and dipstick indication.
Why does the Northstar take 7.5 quarts of oil ??? Because a LOT of oil is circulated to the DOHC valvetrain for cooling - oil is the only medium that cools the engine rotating machinery ..............
Also check out the revised head bolt degrees of turn change in the torque sequence. P.5
