I have a 2007 Base XLR which currently has 18000 miles on it. When its idling, the temperature gauge indicates about an 1/8 or a 1/16 of an inch below the 220 degree mark . No error messages, no overheating. I changed and flushed the coolant system today and still getting essentially the same operating temperature and I was just wondering if this is the normal state of affairs for these vehicles. Anyone with any experiences or insights would love to hear from you. Thanks guys!

It sounds like your engine coolant is well within the prescribed temperature limits. As your engine coolant temperature changes, the cooling fan will compensate. (Oil and transmission temp are linked to this duty cycle too.) For the coolant, the duty cycle of the engine cooling fan triggers on low speed at 204 (F) and switches to high speed at > 235 (F).
