On my 96 deville my driver side torque strut was worn so i bought a new one from rockauto.com for $20 with shipping.

I wonder though is it normal for these parts to wear or do they only wear when something isn't right causing too much force to be forced on them making them rip?

I know my front mount is severely worn since i bought the car and will replace it soon because it has a bad shake when i put it in drive etc.

Is it normal for these parts to wear out?

The other thing why is it sometimes the metal mounts break is it normal with age? I had a friend who had a mount on a caravan completely break once but we didn't know why.

The rubber in the torque mounts are eventually going to become somewhat brittle and start cracking. I replaced one myself about a year ago.
