Hello everyone I’m having noise from drivetrain on my 2014 coupe auto. Let car sit about a week had heavy rain and rotors rusted up. Jumped in car and put her in reverse and nothing. Engaged reverse again and pressed gas and finally broke loose pass from rotors. Backed out of driveway with grinding noise coming forming brakes until rust came off rotors. Went to put car in drive started hearing a noise like metal grinding. Noise mainly can be heard when engaging reverse and drive. Once in a while also while driving low speeds. Car drives fine shifts thru gears fine in auto and paddle mode. I know there has been old threads but no real conclusions of what might be issue. Any ideas would be helpful. Car is stock

V6 or V8 engine in your coupe?
I have a hunch you may have posted in the wrong discussion forum.

Looks like you're OK - many members post the year, trim level, and engine in their username banner - it instantly identifies what vehicle someone is offering advice on. I updated your info but a year would help, too.

A6 or M6? I don't know why your pads would 'stick' as they aren't engaged while parked. Was your parking brake engaged? Light rust is common - I get it from just washing my car then parking it in the garage. That light rust disappears upon backing out to the street. Have you looked underneath your car for anything?

It’s A6 and the brakes were seized pretty good due to rust on rotors. After market slotted/drilled rotors and performance pads. They would stick after heavy rain if car set a couple days but this time it set over a week and the rotors were rusted pretty good. Brakes were seized so good that when reverse was engaged car didn’t move. Had to press gas pretty hard to brake them loose. That’s when noise started when reverse and drive are engaged. Also I have brake rubbing noise. I got under car and noise sounds like it’s coming for driveshaft. Car drives fine in every gear so I don’t think it the diff.

Mileage? It sounds like you removed the calipers to change the pads. Did you lube the pistons? They could be sticking.

Yes lube and greased the caliper, pads, and pins. I’m sure they were sticking but once they released is when I started hearing noise in driveshaft. Driveshaft should be pretty sturdy on these cars can’t see how giving enough gas to brake loose calipers would cause damage to driveshaft. I took a video of sound as driveshaft engages but trying to figure out how to load it so y’all can view it

Post it on YouTube and then post the link here. The drivetrain on this car has been known to handle 1000 hp.

Definitely weird. Get it on a lift or ramps and take a good look. This is definitely not normal. Maybe a bolt backed out or???

Yeah will do! Rear of car was on jack stands when video was taken so rear wheels were free to turn. One area I didn’t check was rear axles. I also need to try and get a look at the center carrier of driveshaft. Hopefully can find something simple! Let’s hope
