No text message notifications

Wife picked up her new Optiq yesterday. Even though Bluetooth settings from phone are set to 'show message notifications', text messages still do not appear via the Infotainment system. I drive a refreshed 2022 Silverado with essentially the same infotainment and when I turn off CarPlay, well wouldn't ya know, no text notifications from their either. Anyone experiencing the same issue or found a way to resolve?

This probably doesn't help, but I've had my Optiq for almost a week and got my first text message while driving today. It displayed on the infotainment screen, so it works for me. But I think it dismissed itself rather quickly. It was gone before I had a chance to read the message and decide what to do.

Seems like I remember something deep in the settings about whether or not to allow personal information to be displayed. So maybe that setting could be preventing text message notifications.

@electroncat The "deep in settings" was it and appreciate the suggestion! Went to Privacy settings and there are a ton where you have to give your vehicle permission to allow for each type app or function. Once I set pretty much everything to 'allow' or 'allow while using the app', test messages popped up and I could use voice commands to respond. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction! Will be making the same adjustments on my truck!

The phone is not a trusted device. We're not using profiles, part of the need for a trusted device as I understand it. I initially paired the phone (Android) and received texts but Google Assistant would not read them saying something about not having permission. I think I had to change a notification setting to allow it. (I do not use Google Assistant on the phone. It's not even installed. So it's the Optiq Google Assistant that is functioning.)

Have you tried forgetting the phone in both the car and the car in the phone and starting over again?

This is also in the Quick Guide:

CONNECT YOUR PHONE IN VEHICLE VIA BLUETOOTH PAIRING

With Bluetooth®† compatibility, you can pair your smartphone to access music, phone contacts, text messaging, phone calls and more through your center display. Here is how to connect:
To pair your compatible phone via Bluetooth, tap the Phone icon on the Home screen. Tap “Manage Phones,” then the plus sign (+) to add a new phone. Follow the steps on the screen and on your phone to complete pairing*.

Once your phone is paired with the system, ensure that Google Assistant† is enabled and that you can make and receive calls or texts.

For iPhone users, after pairing your phone with the vehicle, make sure to toggle on “Show Notifications” and “Sync Contacts” from your phone’s Settings menu under “Bluetooth.” Once toggled on, disconnect and reconnect your iPhone from the vehicle.

Enable Google Assistant to Read Text Messages

To enable Google Assistant to read your text messages, follow these steps:
  1. Select the Settings icon on the center display.
  2. From the Settings menu, scroll and press Google.
  3. Select “Google Assistant.”
  4. Scroll and select “Read and Respond to Vehicle Notifications.”

Google Assistant will then be allowed to read your new text messages aloud in the vehicle via Voice Assistant.

*Note: Pairing your phone allows you to access contacts from your phone with Google built-in†, so you can make phone calls to your contacts.
