Friend has a 2000 Deville with the Northstar with 77,000 miles. He got broadsided on passenger side right at the pillar. Car totaled. Now we can't get car started. Getting no fuel. If we spray starter fluid in snorkel, car starts up so we know its fuel. We put 3 gallons in tank to verify that car has gas. He does not have owners manual. Is there a fuel cutoff switch that got tripped or does anyone know of a fuse or fuel pump relay I could check and the location? Before accident, car ran great.

No fuel pump trip. Relay under rear seat - in fuse box. All the fuel and EVAP lines run up the driver's side of the car ...........

The fuel pump wiring runs along the rh side of the underbody. Have you looked under there for wiring damage yet? No cut-off switch on GM's. The wiring is probably pinched right in the impact area.

1. In the Rear Fuse Block under the back seat verify battery voltage is present at the Fuel Pump Fuse (#1, 20 amp) with key on.

2. Locate and remove the fuel pump relay (#39 mini, right next to fuse). Identify pins 30 and 87 (labeled on the relay) .

3. Using a suitable fused jumper short corrisponding terminals 30 and 87 together in the fuse block. Check for fuel pump operation.

4. If the fuse(s) does not blow and the fuel pump does not run, locate the Gray wire at pin E in connector C420 (under RH front corner of trunk, 7-wire connector, between suspension air compressor and RH rear tire) it should have BAT+ with your jumper in relay terminals.

5. If voltage is present on Gray, verify less than 0.10 volts on the Black ground wire at pin G in connector C420.

6. If OK, verify voltage at the Gray wire at the fuel pump module connector at pin B at top of tank.

7. If OK verify a good ground at the Black wire at the fuel pump module connector at pin C.

8. If OK replace the Fuel Pump Module (or just tow the junker away):bonkers:.

just out of curiosity, if it was totaled, why are you trying to get it started? Isn't that someone elses problem now?

He wants to have it running because he might want to sell engine and it's better if buyer could here it running and see there is no head gasket problem. I'm even thinking of taking engine. People are selling 2000 Devilles,Eldos,Sevilles all the time with bad motors. I'll just drop the subframe as 1 unit with all the wiring and PCM attached. Probably take 1 day to switch out.
