Hello,I have had my 96 Deville since april of 2009 .Decent car for the 3500 I paid for it. I don't drive it alot but I keep it clean and serviced for a "sunday car" so to speak and drive my other older stuff Since gas has come down I would like to take a road trip or 2 to some antique engine shows. But 1 of my biggest gripes with the car is no trailer hitch. And the low towing capacity. Nearly 300 hp and all I can do is haul a-- or grocery's.:)
I build my own trailers ,hitch carriers and whatever else I need around here and I have picked up a unused class 1 receiver tube and the insert. It is for something else and will have to be modified.
What I would like to have is a couple pics of how a factory made hitch fits to the car and perhaps of a factory made hitch for a 1996 deville.
I know without the tow package I cant tow but 1000 pounds. I mainly want it for a small hitch carrier. I am a collector of small antique gasoline engines and so forth want to be able to carry a gas can and such in a box plugged into the hitch. The Maytag and Briggs engines ride happy in the trunk when I go to a show but I have to keep fuel out of them and dont feel right carrying a gas can in the trunk.
Any help on this is appreciated.
I built the hitch for my 1974 of the other make of luxury car and it works well towing a tandem trailer but I know better than tackle that load with fwd. :)

That is the annoying thing about google. I punched it in the best I could fiqure out and never got that much!:rant2:
And some of what I had read said the trim had to be cut. So in asking about pics of 1 on the car, I was going to see just how bad it was. Which by making 1,I will give up a 1/4 inch of clearance before would I ruin the trim on my car.
Thanks for the help.
