Just wanted to drop in and say HI! Actually, I'm a vette guy and have discovered there are a LOT of Vette owner that also own and love their STS/CTS.

So.. I am trying to jump in and get up to speed here. Not sure if this is the best forum section to get some information about these cars, but I see one in my future very soon.

I'm letting go of my Vette after 5 years with it adn looking forward to the new ride.

Anyone point me in a good direction on a C5 guy can't make up my mind whether to do the STS or CTS ?

Pretty big difference between the two. A test drive of each should quickly help you decide which way to go. Maybe even just a visual inspection.

I am looking for the more subjective criteria. As in....

Which handles more responsively? What has better pickup/performance? What all really IS the difference between the two? Why is the STS generally more expensive than the CTS? I want the V8 - but not the - V model. (I've had my fun in the 400hp+ vette already) Is there a comparison or differences bewteen the two platforms and engine packages? Are there any significant service issues between the two? Is the CTS more towards the sport crowd and the STS more for the gray hair set or vice versa or not even a factor? Are mods between the two models equally abundant?

Point me in a direction or opine on the above.

I learned more on the Corvette Forum than I thought was possible. Surely there are many tips and tricks here as well. Is there a sticky on "known gremlins" that seem prevelant on one or either model?

Any help where to start focusing time here would be appreciated.

I think I am leaning heavily for the STS. The only thing is I really like the brushed aluminum (CTS) rather the woodgrain. Is there an aftermarket kit to replace the woodgrain?

Most dash kit vendors offer a variety of materials... real and simulated wood, carbon fiber, aluminum, etc. A quick Google search shows that many vendors most likely offer what you're looking for.

However, a post in the STS Forum will probably get you a lot more STS-specific answers, rather than asking here in the Lounge.
