Hi all, I have just brought a 1979 eldorado biaritz. It doesnt have an owners manual so I am unsure how the cruise control works. There is a dash switch marked off-cruise-auto, and on the indicator stalk is a button and another switch marked resume-accel.Any help would be much appreciated.

Turn the switch on. Press the button to set the speed. Hold the accelerate switch to accelerate and release to drop back to preset speed. Hold the decel button to temporarily disengage and slow down. Tap the acel button to "tap up" the speed by 1 MPH for each tap (max 10). Tap decel to "tap down" 1 MPH for each tap (max 10).

I leave the dash switch on all the time. Should display an orange icon when on. Gently depress the button on the turn lever end above 30 MPH and you should see a green icon above the orange one and the cruise should set with foot off accelerator. If you depress the button fully or with force, the system will set then disengage all at once. If both lights come on and it still wont set, inspect the linkage from the servo to the throttle arm for having too much slack or being disconnected. If all ok, then check the vacuum hoses at the servo for being cracked, kinked or split.
