Hey Cadillac enthusiats, I just recently accuried a 2001 Deville. Well it was in a small fender bender. My friend owns a body shop, we fixed up for a good price. The Deville recieved a new radiator no other major parts. Im having a problem with the coolant staying full. I fill it and it keeps coming out of the drain hose. I see it spewing out of the hose with the hood open. The car has 150k, it is emaculate. TIA

Yes, there is a marker that reads on top of the tank forgot what it reads. Thanks for the quick reply 70cougar. I think the system is not do pushing all the air out of the system, but its taken quite a few bottles of coolant. Then it goes into check coolant level. It idles fine, no ticking, cant even tell if its on its so quite. Im not to fimilar with the northstar at all, but its a different animal that i know. This is going to be my dd. Since diesel prices are going back up. I couldnt get myself to be in a midsize car or import. I wanted a American V8!!! Just driving it, it pulled the CEL: P0410,B1586,B1591. TIA

Check the purge line. It's job is to purge any air in the system and will cause an overheat if it is not clear. It's the 3/8" line that runs from the water pump to the top side of the surge tank. Just pull the hose off the surge tank at idle (cold) and is should have a coolant flow. If not, pull the line and clear the obstruction. It will usually be in the hollow bolts that the line is connected to at the water pump. If that doesn't help, get a block test kit and test the air in the surge tank for exhaust gases.
