2-Days in. So far I love it! 45 miles deep.

2019 XT4 AWD Sport. Pretty much fully loaded. Sticker attached!

Sticker: $55,285
After incentives & wheeling & dealing: $48,292

Did I get ripped? I dunno! But 7k off seemed pretty good to me. Has pretty much everything I can imagine...

First impressions:
- I'm coming from a 2016 ATS bone stock (ugh)
- Transmission is nice and smooth which is the complete opposite of my ATS. That thing sucked!
- Ride is nice and smooth which is the complete opposite of my ATS! That thing sucked!
... There's a pattern here, trust me.
- I wish I could default-off the Auto Start/Stop like everyone else... but my ATS didn't have that option either. Both seem to have similar auto start/stop characteristics (eh... it's alright). Where I drive it's mostly pointless (stop & go).
- Bose sound system is night & day better than my ATS (can't believe that system was called *Bose* because it sounded terrible - admittedly, I'm picky).
- Can't believe how little body roll there is on this thing. Not as stiff as ATS obviously, but destroys the X3 I test drove. Obviously, different trims at play I presume.
- Not as fast as my ATS, but I didn't expect it to be. Still has some pep in Sport mode though. The ride makes up for it.
- The tech is pretty cool!

The concerning part...
- When I get out of the vehicle after driving (10 miles or whatever), I smell burning PCB. No idea what that is... but had something similar on my ATS (never checked it out, never had a problem with computerized whatever). I'll probably tell the dealer I guess... but they're not going to know what's up almost certain. If it persists I'll tell them.

I'll check in again soon.

Great review... :) So there is no default for Auto START/ OFF? Not sure if you mean (since I am still waiting for my XT4 SPORT AWD to come in) that once you select the "OFF" mode that it has to be deactivated again once you turn the XT4 back on again?

Nice review- I think Caddy is 'on track' with this car! As to the auto stop - I was initially deactivating - but it is really pretty 'smooth'- and I totally forget to do it now. I always wondered how it restarted the car and I guess these systems use 'stored hydraulic power' to restart the car.

Auto start/stop -- Default setting is always 'On'. So if you turn off, it'll stay off for the duration of the running cycle... but once you power off your car, it resets back to 'On' when started. Same with "Sport mode". Defaults to "Tour"... and you can change to Sport or AWD mode... but once you turn the car off -- goes back to default. Not the biggest fan of that... but I guess when I get in my car, I now have a "start-up checklist" like an airline pilot :)

250 miles in -- that smell I mentioned below went away, so not sure what that was about (no adverse issues due to as far as I can tell... I'll let you know though).

One other thing I noticed... with the HUD, at night the housing around it is super reflective and the street lights glare onto the windshield. Hasn't really affected my driving or visibility, but at first I thought someone was flashing a light at me or something; caught me off guard.

Gas -- makes a huge difference to me (maybe it's my brain playing tricks). But the dealer topped with 87' and the first tank drove eh... I had about a quarter left, and just topped off with 93 and again maybe it's me... but it seems a lot smoother off the line with less pedal.

Digging the sound system in this thing. Love the cooled/heated seats.

OH -- and this voice system is one of, if not the best I've used. I don't think it has gotten one thing wrong yet. Crazy.

Just read your review and correct me if I am wrong, but do I detect a slight degree of dissatisfaction with your 2016 ATS. I'm getting that vibe.

BTW-think you got a really good deal. Obviously the discounts on fully loaded vehicles is greater, but I am sure the lack of sightings of these type of cars indicates the dealers are willing to deal to get them moving. I happened to buy mine at the end of October (their first full sales month) so they were willing to give me everything I asked for and more to close the deal. When you really have no intention of buying (took my wife's car in for service and was just taking a test drive) you can ask for the sky and the moon and sometimes it works out.

hahah -- yeah for sure. LOVED the CUE infotainment system (one of few I suppose, but I'm a techy so I love that sort of thing). Loved the juice vs mileage (worked for me anyway). But there were a lot of problems. Really rough ride, both in suspension and transmission, was the greatest problem to me. Great looking vehicle though.

Thanks for the feedback. Makes me feel at least a little better knowing that I didn't get completely bamboozled.

No like I said you got a good deal-bought mine through Costco and got a little under invoice for about a 2k discount plus a $ 700 costco gift card. Then they gave me $ 800 more for my trade in because had just put tires on my 2013 ATS 2 months ago, $ 500 rebate because told them I really didn't want to pay for the shadow metallic paint and only charged me $ 99 for dealer prep. Then two days alter I took the car home when GM offered rebates for the last 3 days of Oct, they were able to work it so I got the 2,500 rebate (probably cause I had bought 3 other cars from them)-so I figure I got about 5 k off of a 42,000 sticker priced vehicle. (2,000 + 500 +2,500).

And I know all about the ATS-had both a 2013 and 2014 ATS for 4 years. So when I complained about an issue that both cars had, they couldn't give me BS that it was only that car. Loved the handling and the acceleration (on 2014-2013 was a base engine). Hated CUE. Had to have the torque converter replaced on the 2013 ATS. Awful trunk and back seat space. Space in XT4 is a breath of fresh air.

The guy who used to live across the street had a $135,000 Audi A8L. He had personalized plates which said Last Car and sure enough it was.
Hmm if I didn't have a great personalized plate already I would think that these might also be a great plate to have too … now if I lived in Maine I would prefer that much nicer style plate. :D

ATS Bone Stock has a lower end Bose. With the Nav it went from 7 to 10 speakers and Centerpoint Surround.
Now you have gone beyond all that with 13 speakers.

Brand new the vehicles do have a burning smell.

If you had the 2.0T in your ATS, does your XT4 with premium gas equal it's performance, with the lower speced 2.0T?

I personally don't think so - but that's purely circumstantial (no numbers behind it). It does have some great torque at the lower end which gets it off the line plenty fast enough. Passing on the highway leaves something to be desired, but it's mostly adequate.

Me too - LOVE that color, my neighbor just bought a loaded 60k Chev truck same color, very NICE. I just saw an XT4 in person about a week ago. Much more impressed than I thought I would be! Very NICE!
