New V owner....finally.

Hey guys, after 3+ months of searching and heartache I finally took delivery of a 04 silver w/black interior. It has 15k miles on it and in my opinion great shape. Only thing i've noticed wrong with it is i few scruffs on wheels and a tiny dent on black section behind the drivers side window. I have some newb questions though. Thanks in advance.

1. When I turn the car on, it always goes to "Driver 2" settings, I did some customizing for for Driver 1. When I switch to driver 1, it always moves my seat and mirrors to the where the previous owner had it. It doesnt save any changes that i've made, including XM pre-sets. Do I need to apply it somehow? How do I apply my changes to the driver 1 config and ensure it goes to driver1 on start up?

2. I hear clunking while shifting 1st to 2nd, then 2nd to 3rd. All other gears seem to be fine. Is this considered normal?

3. When I first got the car and locked it the horn would beep. Now I'm not sure what i pressed or changed but the horn doesnt beep anymore when I lock it. Any idea what i changed?

4. My left headlight seems to have a "short beam". It doesn't shine as far as the right one. Does it just need adjusted or is this a dealer visit?

Thanks guys for your help.

1. Owner';s manual should help you.
2. Get the rpm';s up a little higher.
3. Gotta watchout for that radio man it's got alot of buttons.
how much was she.

1. Use key fob 1 instead of 2....number is located on back of fob
2. Be a little more gentle when depressing the clutch - but yes it is somewhat normal.
3. Has something to do with key fob 1 or 2. With the car off, follow instructions in the owners manual on how to PERSONALIZE the V. The Alarm horn function is located under that/

Thanks guys, I got her for 33,250 + 600 Shipping to my door. Yep just checked my fob, I've been using #2. I guess I'll just have to get used to the car.
Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Glad to have you aboard!
shit I can beleive most of us lost almost 20k by buying the car when it came out.

YES we did ... BUT .. it is WELL WORTH IT in my opinion.
I was looking at beat ass 2002 M3's for 35k, G35's for 28, etc - just couldn't justify it. I knew I wanted this car but I played hard. I was willing to pay more but I just threw a number at the dealer and they bit. Any idea about my headlight issue? thanks guys.
Sounds like something the dealer should look at (head light issue)

On the key fob issue, make sure you hold the program button down on the armrest long enough for it to give two "beeps".

There is a real nice member who will run your cars history if you post the vin#.

Welcome, and by the way, YOUR DOOMED.:histeric:
Hey...welcome to the forum!
1 and 3) Refer to your manuals provided with the car.
2) Happens...jus depress the clutch slower and shift at higher RPM's. Its a sports car after all! If its real loud, go to the dealer and tell him. They might replace your bushings that are the cause of the noise.
4) No clue.

The driver's side headlight is aimed lower to keep from blinding oncoming traffic. No need for a dealer visit.

hmmmmm. Mine is no shorter. Is this in the owners manual or documented anywhere? :hmm:

Hmm, eveytime I pull into the driveway at night, it bugged me that my headlights looked just a bit 'off'. I just assumed, that it was just a bit out of alignment (driver side a bit lower than the right). It doesn't bother me at all driving, so I never brought it into the dealer.

Viva la forum, learn something new every day. Thanks, Rick.

Is this a confirmed 'feature'?
