ANYBODY NOTICE THE NEW UNDERLINED WORDS IN OUR POSTS?

If you hover your mouse over one of those words an ad link pops up! Maybe Sal has a new way of generating revenue?:hmm: It doesn't really bug me but did surprise me.

Nope. You can turn them off really easily, though. Just click on the "What's this" link in the pop-up and scroll to the bottom of the page that opens. There's a link to turn them off.. Yes, this is hopefully a new source of revenue to help me pay for a server administrator instead of doing this $90.00/hr service that I'm using now. In the long-run, someone helping me full-time or even part time will probably cost less.. I just paid 6 hours worth of service last night to remedy an email issue..

I'm just a webmaster. I have no idea how to run a server and no time to learn. When a site gets this big, a sole webmaster will run into problems...

You're doing a hell of a job Sal! Do you do your own sales contacts or do they find you?

I don't like it much, but then again if it helps keep this site going I guess it's only a minor inconvenience. Do you get paid just for having them there, or only if someone hovers, or only if someone clicks?

I turned it off also because I found it annoying. I posted earlier about this in the general forums and thats where I found out how to turn it off. My biggest complaint is that I feel that it makes the site slower since its running and analyzing the page for keywords everytime a new page loads.

I would bet that if you posted that you needed help on the forums there would be some members that are network admins that would be willing to help for much less.

Let me answer some questions..

Regarding sales - I actually don't have the time to contact anyone. So far, everyone who's advertised has contacted me.

I only get paid if somebody clicks. But, I don't want anyone clicking unless their interest in where the link brings them. I want everything to be 100% honest and I don't wan't to influence anyone to click. Honesty is the best policy.

The pages fully-load before the IntelliText comes into play. So while the browser is actually taking longer to complete the page-load, all the information in the topic is already displayed. So it shouldn't slow down browsing...

Regarding a network administrator, I want to have somebody who's not a member of the forum. Someone who doesn't hold any specific interest. This way there can never be an issue with the person possibly holding a grudge on a member and using his/her power to mess around. I don't know the specifics but I just think it's a safer bet to hire somebody who isn't a member here...

It's perfectly okay to disable the ads if they bother you. I'd MUCH rather you all enjoy your time here than make a few cents on a click...
