I just bought a 2001 STS and had a few questions. First, it came with 16" chrome rims that are just too small. Does anyone make similar (stock) rims but in 18"? Also, how wide of a tire can I safely go? I dont want them sticking out but would at least like to fill the fender. Lastly, any quick suggestions or things I need to know about this car?
I have not had much time to really review this site but so far it looks great and I look forward to spending some time here.

I thought the 2001 STS came with 17' Chrome rims. I have a 2000 STS that came with 16' Chrome and I decided to go with 17inch DVS Wreath / 235 55 R 17 Vogue Tyres. It looks nice, not too big and not to small. You can go to the picture section and see my vehicle. Screen name is dret2k.

Welcome aboard.... Thanks for signing up

I know there are cadillac stock rims in chrome, 17in.... I cant recall what model they are from.... You really cant go wrong with OEM cadillac rims, because they are built for the same stresses.... Personally, id go with OEM if I could.....

Basically you want to make sure this car has been maintained well, and if it hasnt been maintained perfectly, you should do your best to get it back up to snuff or you may pay more later!

I own a 2001 STS with the Premium Luxury package which includes these wheels and a host of other options including xenon lights and yada yada. One of the upgraded packages was the only way to get the 17" rims, and IMO they really make the car. These are on Ebay all the time and shouldnt be too expensive. Then again, from that angle and that small picture it looks like yours DOES have the xenon lights, and thus you might THINK you have the 16's but actually have the 17's

You can see my rims here for comparison: http://members.cox.net/inelson5/STS2.jpg

Thanks for the replies. I was able to get a set of 17" OEM rims off ebay for just over $700. Couple more questions, how wide of a tire can I go ie. 235-285? without rubbing....Thanks again.. John

Id think a 245-45-17 or a 255-45-17 would be sufficient.....
