new owner-manual available?

I just got a 2006 STS RWD via the internet. Beutiful used car w/21000 miles, got a good deal (I think) at $30000 including delivery to my state. It was reposessed an came with only 1 fob and no ownwer's manual-anyone know where I can get those? Will a new fob have to be programmed at the dealer? Will the seat position memory only work with different fobs? I haven't figured out how to work that, or many other features without a manual!

Is there a web site one can go to and punch in the VIN number to see what options my particilar car came with?:bouncy:

Cadillac has a online owners center at least they did this winter where you signed on with your vin # and setup a login and password. Part of the service included a section that included a pdf owners manual to download. I have the 2007 owners manual and nav manual and could send you each if you have a high speed connection. Shouldn't be much difference.
All manuals are available at www.helminc.com. New fobs can usually be found on Ebay and are owner programmable using a procedure outlined in the owners manual. If you have NAV be sure to order a NAV supplement.

I don't know of any website that would have the particulars that you are looking for, but there aren't that many options that your car could have. Packages are rather easy to spot. Does your car have an 8 or a 6 cyl engine? Does it have vented seats? If it is a 6 cyl. does it have 18 inch wheels (these are the ones with the exposed lug nuts)? Knowing the answers to these questions should put you on track for determining what package was optioned for the vehicle.

Individual free order options would be things like ACC (adaptive cruise ctrl) on the V8 cars (easily identified by looking for the head up display), sunroof, navigation system and color. Take some pics of the new car and post them here, I'm sure that there is someone that would be more than happy to tell you exactly what you bought.
There is a tag on the spare tire cover in the trunk that has all your car's option codes. Compare those codes with this list

to determine how your car left the factory.
If you just add another key fob from eBay, it will get added as fob #3, and then the seat and other memory items won't work. You need to follow the process to "forget" all previous fobs then re-learn the two fobs as #1 and #2. It's a little scary and is a deliberately slow process (approx 45 minutes). When you get a PDF owner's manual, it's all in there. This process doesn't work on Canadian models.

Have fun!
Thanks all! I have the V8, 18" wheels a rear spoiler, heated and cooled seats, magnetic ride control (one of the "s" packages), and nav. I don't see heads up dispay (would there be a "sender" on top of the dash?

Found it! Very helpful-thank you.

Where in the PDF, and which PDF? I need to do this.
Thanks!
In my version of the main owner manual PDF file it's on the page numbered 2-7 or page 71 according to Acrobat.
Thanks for the info. However, I am running into a problem. It says max # of FOBS learned when I get to step 5. What can I do?
Thanks in advance!
Hmmm. It worked fine for me. I only have two ideas (and one lame joke)

Did you put the fob in the console before flipping the key 5 times?

Could your car be originally Canadian? Hint: when you say "Navigation Donuts" does it take you to Dunkin Donuts or Tim Hortons?
Yes. No. LOL.
I should note it says to place a unknown FOB in the "thing". Both of the FOBS I have are known. #1 and #4.
It seems like the only difference between the "add a fob" procedure and the "reset all fobs" procedure is whether the fob is in the slot or just anywhere in the car but not in the slot. And it seems like your car thinks you want the "add a fob" procedure. It's like it doesn't see the one in the slot. Try ensuring the second fob is away from the car while the first one is in the slot.
Maybe that is the problem. Good idea. I will try that right now.

OK. I tried it. The other FOB was 30 feet away. I tried flipping the FOB in the slot, pushing it down, upside down, maybe a dozen times. No luck. :(

I think I am going to start a new thread. Thanks for your help.
Benjamin Simon...........I'm running into the same problem as you. Did you ever get this resolved? If so, what did you do?
On the FOB issue - I had no valet key so I had to have the dealer program the new OFB which I bought on EBay. They reset and reprogrammed both for about $40, I thought that was fare.
