You bought a new vechicle which is under warranty, take it back to your dealer and address your concerns....rust is a sign of wear and tear (or subject to elements i.e. rain/snow/salt) so if I bought a new vehicle I wouldn't expect to see any rust....was your vehicle a demo? How many miles/kms was noted on sale which should determine how long it sat on the lot, whats the manufactured date, to me new means under 200 miles....was it treated with rust proof....

I have a 2010 as well and when I logged on I saw your topic and decided to look under mine, there is minimal rust under mine. Not nearly as much as in your photos. It is not normal, especially for a 2010. However it is normal for gm trucks. If you are leasing it don't worry too much but if you are buying it then you may want to see what they can do about it. I'm dissapointed about mine but I stopped worrying so much because I am going to try to get out of this vehicle as soon as I can. But financially I cannot afford it so I will be some time for me to get into another vehicle.

As a consumer purchasing " anything " complete your due diligence.....do your homework, in this case view all aspects of your vehicle before you purchase it...test drive, look under the body, under the hood, check all electrical items, dealer maintenance records if available, review forums for items to pay attention to, if used get reviewed by an independent mechanic....there are lemons in every industry in the case of a new vehicle...once it's ours preventative maintenance is the best option you have to keep it running like new...when you buy a pricey truck be prepared to afford it, if not, there are always Honda Civics out there

Thank you all for replies.
i'll visit my dealer and tell my service advisor (who is really kind and straight forward).
to address some of your guestions, it had only 8 miles on the vehicle when i purchased it. so i guess "sitting" on a parking lot for a year really caused it. if ppl test drive the vehicle, (I think) it would have less.

and yes i think i didn't do my "due diligence". i checked all such as "electronics", "test drive" interior" "any unusual noise" and etc. except i forgot to check undercarriage. It was sold to me as "new". to be honeset, i never thought a year old "new" woudl have any rust. for next time, i'll def. check it out before i sign the paper.

Thank you all for your kind suggestions and opinions. i'll go talk to my dealer and see what we can do. =)

i totally agree with 2007caddy. every industry has lemon.

Only 8 miles WOW!!!!!!.....odd, I would be fuming....dealers here don't usually keep many Escalades on the lot very various reasons i.e cost effectiveness and maintenance (like your outcome), I only see a few, the showroom demo, the shuttle, the test drive demo and few on the lot for sale, others are ordered....does your dealer keep a lot of Escalades on the lot? was yours GM stored in a cold climate lot prior to delivery....I think you have a strong agrument, wish you luck...keep us posted.

My two 2010's have a wax type coating under the truck, the only things on my trucks showing any light rust are the drive shafts, and the brake backing plates because they are not coated, and they are just iron. My trucks live inside when they are not being used, this makes a huge difference in terms of rust, I know this looking at my neighbors 2009 Escalade that lives outside, I work on his truck, and he even commented that his truck looked 10 years old. Look on the drivers door sticker and that will tell you when it was built. Also I have seen the last two years that the brine solution they put on our roads before the snow seems to be causing more damage to cars/trucks than ever before, chrome peeling off what seems to be well chromed parts, premature rusting on body panels, of course it could just be the lowest bidder making the parts too.

Thank you 2007caddy and hcvone.
i went to the dealer and my service advisor said it's normal.
well i guess i have to live w/ it. mine was built 6/10. so it's only 8 months old.
except the drive shaft and brake backing plates, everything is clean.
i did mentioned about rail dust and my sales person told me to bring it in anyday and he'll take care of it.
so comfy ride i love it!
