Welcome. I approved the link for you.
thanks, i think i;ll love it ,
Has anyone here had one of these or have one, If so just curios on what I should look for mechanicla wise, if certain things fail, stop working or just common things to keep it running like new.
thanks. Also I dont think the wireless headphones are going to be with it. Can i just use afteremarket ones from radio shack or somewhere.
Hello and welcome I bought an o4 ESV Platinum back in Dec. Some of the things i had to have done so far are Ft.Diff. rebuild ,Oil and tranny cooler lines replaced,Also had seals on transfer case replaced all under warranty I love my truck i previously had a subburban and it dont evan compare to my Caddy Iam pretty sure you will love it
bigdaddy's caddy, how did you get your dealer to do all that work under warranty? Mine won't even acknowledge that the front diff is a service-needed item!
I looked at an 02 escalade about bought it but My friend is a mechanic he said it sounded like the front drive needed rebuild,
Do u think the 40-50 per month extra unless i just pay for it seperate and not on the bank note, for unlimited milage warranty do you think this would be a good investment then. Its around 1200 dollars, But states its everything except, normal wear items like belts, batteries, brakes, tires, Just wondered, Im sure a front drive axel repair would be at least that. or tranny, Didnt know if the electronics in these were really reliable either. lots of fancy stuff. Its not a GM warranty so just wondered its an aftermarket type.
The original owner enrolled my truck in the Cadillac extended warranty that was fully transferable My ft diff was making noise also i checked it out before i bought it and made a list of things i found Every thing Ive taking it in for has been repaired under my warranty no questions asked I purchased my caddy at Libertyville Chevrolet I also bought my suburban there The people there are awesome i never had a problem
Ft. Diffs are common problem on these trucks they are heavy awd trucks I am pretty sure an after market warranty should cover a failing diff I would be sure to do some research There is a lot of good information on this forum hope this helps
Yeah, my warranty is through Caddy (CPO) so I'm trying to see what they cover and what they don't.
Hi
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
I have the 2005 Escalade ESV Platinum. Welcome to the party
I got mine in December 2008 also with 63,000 miles on her.
Here is what I would check for.
  • Clunking in steering wheel when driving slow and turning the wheel. This is caused by a poorly designed upper intermediate steering shaft.
There is a new TSB to replace the steering shaft to finally solve this permanently
  • Check for a whining noise from the front end at 40-45 MPH. Slowly accelerate to put torque on the gears and listen closely
  • Check for a pulsating noising coming from the front end at 40-45 mph. Mine had that problem. It was the side carrier bearings in the front diff.
  • Make sure the service engine soon light is not lit. Mine keeps coming on with a code P0442 (Small EVAP leak)

Good Luck with yours

thanks for the info, I really like the red,,
I really like the red,,
Me too. I don't see too many of them.
Obviously, the White Diamond and Black are the most popular.

Two more points.
1.) Heated/Chilled cup holders:
My driver side heating does not work. The red light comes on then immediately goes off.
There must be a short in the coil for that side.
Passenger side works fine.
The chilled portion works fine on both sides.
Something else to check on.
Only the Platinum edition has this feature.

2.) Rear Seat Audio
Make sure that when you put a DVD in the rear seat entertainment (RSE) system , that you can toggle the "source" button on the steering wheel to choose "RSE"
Make sure you can hear the DVD's audio through the vehicles speakers without static and with high quality sound.
An aftermarket IPOD adapter caused problems with this for me that took forever to diagnose.

OMG, I just picked it up around 1200 today, Drove it home (((( I LUV MY CADILLAC )))) Everything seems to be working fine, But I need to figure out how to clean the interior real good its got the light color interior the previous owners were mt climber bike rider type people. The seats have dirt looking places on them and a few places n door panels, Should I just use soap and water then use a leather condition after it dries. ?
So i need a owners manual ,wireless headsets, dvd nav disc, new door interior handle on driver side, chrome is worn off,
for a 2005 cadillac escalade platinum esv. ,
I will chenck the forums I remember seeing something about cleaning. (somewhere,) But
Just wanted to say....
I got it home, I love it. I payed some extra for a 4 year extended unlimited mile warranty, But it does give me peace of mind to not worry about repair cost,

very nice, the leather and seats arent really worn at all, it seems to just be really dirty, I used to use a armour all brand leather cleaner, than conditioner on my avalanch but it had dark gray seats, These are really light cream coored and I assume will show everything, Just didnt now f there was something really good out there to clean the nasty spots dirt whatever it is on them.
thanks
That write up is also awesome, I didnt know anything like that existed. Ive seen something like that for a dash but not for a seat.
I just got a 2005 Escalade. Love it. My only problem I cant seem to understand how the wireless headphones work when a dvd is playing so I dont have to listen to it while im drive and family is watching a dvd in the rear.

any help?
