Hi
I have had my 98 eldo for a few years and love this car. But now with 70k miles I'm starting to get issues. AC has been the biggie but now I'm getting the "Traction Control" and "Antiloc/ABS" message on the dash. They have been on for a while with no problems to the driveability so far.
How do I check and clear codes on the DIC? Any idea what may cause these warnings. If its only a sensor prob I would rather replace myself if possible.

TIA for any help you can provide.

OK

Did some research here....found out how to read DIC and how to clear
Every thing cleared but TCS C1243 code. When I clear it the warnings go away...then come right back on. I hear/feel something clicking in the steering column. Were do I go from here?

TIA

C1243 - BPMV Pump Motor Stalled Don't know what this one means, but I venture a guess that it isn't something that will fix itself. I'd have someone take a look at the car, unless you have the factory service manuals and can diagnose this code yourself.

You might want to check out this link. Shows the trouble tree for diagnosing and resolving the issue that C1243 indicates, which translates to a problem with the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve. Let us know what you find out...

Just so you know, the EBTCM (Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module) is located in front of the tranny under the air cleaner box. It will have brake lines and a large wire harness plugged into it.

I have a 96 eldorado with the same issues. The speed sensor is the cause of the issues. In my case the right front speed sensor that is located within the drum of the wheel somewhere. I was told that it poses no problems to regular operation of the car,but you do not have tranction control or anti lock brakes. I had a estimate of $400.00 to replace. Hope this helps. Jon

Now its on all teh time. I tried to get connector off but I cant tell how it comes off. any ideas. My car drivews fine and brakes work well. will it hurt to keep driving it like this? i have teh recurring c1243 code.
