New Guy. 1993 Sedan Deville questions

Hello Everyone.
I just bought my day a 1993 Sedan Deville . It's a really clean car with 67,000 klm on it. It sat for 7 years when the original owner died and I bought it from his wife (my neighbour)
Anyways I have a couple of questions. I did do a search but the answers were not there.

1) The car came with no transmitters and I went to a dealer and they said it had the option and it would be $100.00 bucks and $ 50.to program it. So I went to ebay and bought original fobs and programed my self. Worked great. Over the winter (I had the car in my garage so I could suprise my dad for his birthday)the battery died and It was replace. The remotes did not work after this. So I reprogramed them again and now they will not work. After I jump the pins ,the trunk opens and the two fobs are pressed(not at the same time) New Batteries in both fobs.I tried it 10 times and nothing.

2) I need the little lock /unlock push botton on the driver inside door.Looks to be a plastic piece and the one of the two tabs broke off.

3) the sis light is on. I will have to take a look at that. I hear no air pump motor. Any Idea where to start?.

Thanks in advance.
Mike

The first thing that should be your on your list is to change anti freeze,
as you get to know your car you will learn that maintenance of cooling system is super important on all the 4.xx engines, check out trans. fluid as well,if you get trans. fluid change,DO NOT POWER FLUSH TRANS.,if car has sat for seven years it will need some maintenance.spend some time and learn about the 4.9 liter engine, they are a great engine if maintained well.

Forgot to mention, $100.00 from dealership for fobs is a very good price, also goes without saying to do an oil change, plus an air filter change.
1)The receiver for the keyless may be bad, I really don't know about the keyless though, because I only have one car with it and it doesn't even work.

2) Check a junkyard (or ebay), find a door, and remove the whole trim piece from it. They don't make new parts for this car, so something small like that would be impossible to find if you looked in any store.

3) '93 Devilles had standard speed sensitive suspension, over time these shocks go bad and need to be replaced, but if the previous owner replaced them with passive shocks, the SSS light will come on. Unless you really care about the SSS feature, I wouldn't even bother with it, because the active shocks cost a lot of money.
If you have no luck with the door lock in a junkyard I would pull the broken one out and try fixing it somewhat. It is not a very stressed part so you may be able to use a bit of epoxy on it and have it hold. If you can do that you may switch it with one from the backseat that wont get used as much so you have a perfect one up front.
Here are the things that I did, Brakes rotors, both brake lines ,coolant and the stat(it was stuck open)
I power washed the engine(wasn't a good idea, has a miss now)I have new wires and spark plugs and o2 sensor and PVC to do on the weekend before I have to go for the e test.
I was hoping to find a plastic lock button somewhere new if anyone had one for sale. Not to worried about the SSS light for now . Thanks for all your quick replies and help.

Sounds like your on the right track, you wont find a new door lock button(unless you mean new to you) find one at an auto wrecker.
Which province do you live in?.
