I know this isn't a Cadillac but what do you all think about it? I like it but I think I'd rather wait until they are being traded in for newer cars before I'd buy one.

Coulda used a few more options on the poll.. :D

Giving one away - sure! I'll take one. Make mine a 6speed..

I just wish Pontiac had decided to resurrect the GTO monniker with something a little on the retro side - a'la Ford and the "NEW" Mustang, instead of skinning it to look like a re-tread of the current line coming from the Big Chief.

Would I buy one? I'm with Mad..

Sure, I'd take one. But, it's way too bland-looking to be called GTO...

P.S. I'm locking this here and moving it into the other General area.. This is for General Cadillac discussion. The other is for totally off-top non-Caddy discussion. I know.. A bit wierd...

No prob. I wasn't sure where I should put this poll at. If I got one of these cars the very first thing I would do is put on the Holden front bumper cover from the land of OZ.

Kinda looks like a Caviler on steriods with the LS1. It should have had dual exhaust and maybe some for flair to it. I would love to drive one, but I wouldn't rush out and buy one. I would agree with Jeff_H in that they should have made it a bit more retro since they used the legendary GTO label on it.

well considering the fact that this car has been proven to be exceptional in handling(suppose to hang with the best). Not too flashy in and out. I would love to own one. It has sbc so aftermarket would be beyond anything in this world.
SBC + exceptional handling + 6speed manual = nice car that i would own.
Quality of the workmanship should be above current gm cars if it's being shipped from aussie.

I do agree with the GTO name not appropriate for the car.

Ok thats a joke. but what would be the best name? I think maybe GM should have held a naming contest.

Perhaps LeMans? Or Grand Prix GTX?

I think they should have called it, "GTP".
since they already had their 255hp/280lbft "GTP" planned, it could have been better for them use a different name not gto. maybe they should have just called it monaro

I agree the styling is pretty bland, but I also remember from reading a preliminary review that the estimated 0-60 time was somehwere in the low to mid 6 second range. That seemed a little on the slow side, but I also seem to remember it having a pretty chunky curb weight too. I wouldn't buy one.

This car is same as holden's(gm's australia division) monaro. Despite its heavy curve weight (3600lb), this car has been proven in australia to hang with the best in the twisties.
5.7 ls1 + 6speed manual + rwd platform = FUN!!!
I would love to drive one. As i said earlier i like the car except for its name GTO

edit: link to monaro

I'd have called it a Chevy Monza. The style doesn't fit in the Pontiac family, past or present.

I like the spec's (except the target price of the low 30,000's). But the HiPo Monaro's in Aus have much more aggressive front end's.

All they had to do was change the badge to a bowtie and call it a Monza. Sure, there is no real cache in that name for diehard bowtie fans. But it would be nice fix that issue this time around.
