You have a great site here, I ve learned alot. One thing I can't find is an alert that my 1991 eldorado has had since I got it. "Service CCR System", What is the CCR system? (stop laughing)

Thanks

CCR = Computer Command Ride

Electronic $trut$ are computer controlled to constantly adjust the suspension. You probably have a bad strut, sensor or valve. Pull the codes.
Thanks a bunch, what a relief! That was drivin me nuts. Now I get the A/C fixed and I will have a great car. I'm a previous Lincoln driver but, this little Caddy is OK.

I had a '90 Eldorado - same design as the '91 but they made some nice revisions to the '91 like the 4.9 liter engine (the '90 had a 4.5 liter) and CCR which was not available in '90.

I really liked that style Eldo. It was a very peppy and agile car.
I am looking for either a '91 Eldorado or Seville right now. Awesome cars! Think I have a line on a '91 ETC...bright red 140K miles with a roof. Hope it works out.
Welcome! Post some pictures in our image section when you get a chance! :)
I'm not sure I about this computer control, maybe I'm a little paranoid. I have always driven pre-1980 cars. Don't care too much for the repair bills on these newer cars. Got a great deal on this one when my Lincoln died. 116,000 miles,$1500 and one owner. Needs a new vinyl top. Sorry, it's not bright red, only a mild champagne-like color. You guys have been great! I'm sure I'll be around for a while.
Lesa,

Welcome to the forums! There are ways to circumvent the CCR with regular struts/shocks. Check out the technical section of the forums. Enjoy your Eldo, and happy motoring!

That's correct. It would probably be expensive to replace the active struts that your car was produced with. You can just replace them with ordinary struts. The only thing is that you would always have that CCR error message, but you can clear the message once the car is running.

I would check to see what codes your car is throwing. This may help isolate the problem You can do this by pressing the "Off" and the red "Warmer" buttons simultaneously on the climate control panel. The iginition should be in the run position - the motor does not have to be running. Trouble codes will be displayed in the driver information center.

Write them down and post them exactly as they appear on this board.
That's the weird thing, the only codes I have showing have to do with low refridgerant and low pressure on the a/c compressor. No others in history or current.
My '91 STS is the same way. After starting the car I get the "Service CCR System" message. Running the codes yields no information related to the suspension. Maybe the system isn't as advanced as the later RSS suspension computer.
