Hey everyone. I just bought a 1990 Cadillac Brougham. Its white with a white top. Tan velour interior. 83k miles. 5.0L

I have a few questions you guys may be able to help
1. Is this car called just a Brougham, or a Fleetwood Brougham?
2. How do you remove the power antenna? Mine is stuck up, and i found one at the junkyard that is down, so i figure it may work. Anyways i cant or dont know how to remove either.
3. How do you remove the stainless on the top of the hood, seems that dirt has built up under it.
4 Any way to ad the following, twilight Sential, lighted vanity mirrors?
5. How do you recline the pass side seat?
6. Anyway to remove top? mine is pulling tight on the bottom edges at teh back. it needs to be replaced. I know a guy who has one that was just replaced, but the car was in a accident. Are they changeable?
7. I have a Continental kit covered with blue cloth. I got for free. I wouldnt mind making the clothwhite, and putting it on my Cadillac. Any ideas?

Thanks

Its just called the Brougham. They called the 77-85 models the Fleetwood Broughams, then from 86-92 it was just the Brougham. In 1993, Cadillac made it the Fleetwood, the Brougham was an option package for the fleetwood.

1. ^^ He nailed it.
2. To get to the power antenna, IIRC you remove the front right wheel well and access it through there. It's kind of a PITA.
3. Stainless on top of the hood? Huh?
4. The lighted vanity mirrors wouldn't be too bad, you could just get a set from a junkyard and wire them up. To make the wiring look good you'd likely have to seperate the edge of your headliner, then reglue it later. Same with the twlight sentinel, get the components and light sensor and wire it up - wiring on this is pretty complex though.
5. Not sure it's possible other than what you can do with the controls on the outside edge of the seat.
6. The vinyl top can be replaced at a shop for a couple hundred bucks. IMO really not a job to try yourself.
7. Have you tried test-fitting it?

I thought so about the Antenna.
I figured that stuff would be hard to install, the mirrors would be easy though.
I cant find any control on the side of the pass side seat for a recline, it has a manual forward and rear slide, but thats seems to be it.

The kit will fit, yes. Just need to dye the cloth somehow.

I will try the top thing on a junkyard car, and go from there.

Someone may set me up wih someting to dye the conti kit white. think bleach will do it?

:welcome: to the forums. Nice Ride you got there. On dyeing the cloth white you'll want to get some stuff from Wal-Mart called RIT color remover. It will remove as much of the blue dye from the cloth leaving it white. Then it will be easier to dye with the white dye for a better result IMO. Good luck on the project.

Yeah it's just Brougham like I~LUV~Caddys8792 said. The seat recliners are on the arm rest with the other buttons so if theres not a switch there for it yours probably doesn't have that option. For the continental kit you're probably better off going somewhere that does vinyl roofs and see how much they want to re cover it. I wish someone would give me one for free.

Hehee, always about how weak the 307 is. Nice Cadillac man, looks clean. the passenger seats..Unless they are power seats, will only slide back and fourth. It really sucks, because the angle its at, makes it the least comfortable seat in the car (But that isnt saying much) I modified mine a little bit by putting a few washers where it mounts to the floor to tilt it back a little more. Kinda cheesey but it helped.

Before i bought the car i assumed it to be a slug. I would rather the 5.7 but gas prices turned me to this. I dont need fas acceleration anyways.

That seat thing sucks! I think mine is a striped model, not many options.

Ill do something with the conti kit. It will work. I got it for free, r from my school. Im a Juinior in a Trade school and a guy donated a 90's cougar with it on it. So i "ganked" it off, before it went to the junkyard. They usually go for a good amount of money, even used. I think they are over 1000 new. Thats crazy. If i decide against using it ill just sell it or toss it. prob sell it.

Running into a few more problems. Leaking anti freeze somewhere, slowly. Ill haveto put it on my lift and check it out. Is there something i should shut off before jacking for the level ride? also the blower stopped working. It did when i bought the car. Is that hard to change? I havent used it since i tried it when i got it. Strange. Also the check engine light comes on a few min. after startup, then shuts off ater a few min. Sometimes the belts squeal too. Ahhhh the joy of a cadillac
