I am too another victim to this. Just experienced this yesterday. So what’s the issue? For sure not the spark plugs as i changed all 4 just now. Pistons or fuel injector????
Are other SES codes are present?I am too another victim to this. Just experienced this yesterday. So what’s the issue? For sure not the spark plugs as i changed all 4 just now. Pistons or fuel injector????
Thanks for your response, Rodger. I have the car at a non-Cadillac shop. They're still looking at it, but they did get a cylinder 3 misfire code. I'm hoping that it's a spark plug or similar issue and not some sort of piston/engine issue. Did anyone get a similar error code with this same problem?Any significant engine issue will turn off the TC and stability systems because the controller can only apply the proper corrective measures when the engine is operating as expected so the TC and Stabil... function are just more symptoms of an underlying engine issue.
Given what your engine is doing, it won't be difficult for them to find the problem which could range from cheap (i.e. coil pack) to expensive internal damage. If it is out of warranty, then a Cadillac dealer is going to be the most expensive repair choice.

FYI in case anyone has the same issue. The repair shop just called. They were getting the cylinder 3 misfire code. Turns out it was a coil issue. They're going to replace that and the spark plugs for good measure. Hopefully that will fix up the issue. Thanks for your response, Rodger. I have the car at a non-Cadillac shop. I’m also out of warranty, my TC lights are on, engine light is blinking, the car is running rough on idle, jerking when I accelerate and especially jerky when I brake. I was told to unhook the battery for a minute and reconnect but no luck. The lights come back on after a few minutes. I’ve read this entire thread and it seems that the pistons are the most likely cause of this. How much does it normally cost to replace a piston?Hopefully that clears the problem and a misfiring cylinder will definitely set those codes. For a short time during early Z06 production, it was common with the C7 generation of the Corvette to have a plug lead pop loose in the first few hundred miles scaring a bunch of new owners that their car had suffered a severe failure given the warning lights and rough running engine.
Your shop is doing the right thing by also replacing the plugs because a damaged plug, either leaky due to carbon fouling or open due to wear or failure, can lead to failure of the associated coil pack. At the very least, always replace the plug associated with a failed pack while also closely checking the plug lead, and in most cases it makes sense to replace all of the plugs unless recent replacement has already occurred. Cadillac updated the ECM software for the 2.0T early in ATS production and at the same time switched to a lower temperature range for the ATS plugs; your shop should have the correct information but the specs listed in the owner's manual are probably for the older incorrect plug that was part of what led to piston and ring damage in some 2.0T engines.

I just had the exact same issue word for word. The dealership replaced a coil because the whole issue stems from engine misfires which prevents the stabilitrak from being able to function. It's not hub bearings or sensors in our case. The engine is getting oil mixed in with fuel and the Pistons are misfiring. My problem is that every year this car has an engine misfires error and Cadillac keeps pretending like it's normal to have to pay 700$ because the engine falls apart eventy year. This needs to be replaced under warranty. It has to be related to the other engine misfires codes that were replaced under warranty before. I'm about to just fine a Magnuson moss warranty suit because I should not have to keep paying to fix engine misfires every year. It's absurd. They never fixed the problem when it was under warranty and now they want me to pay for their design defects!Hey, everyone:
I have a 2013 Cadillac ATS 2.0T premium and just had this exact same problem yesterday. It’s in the shop now. I was accelerating on the freeway, the engine began to shake, the TC and Stabilitrak lights came on. I pulled off the freeway and had it towed. The engine shakes pretty rough side to side and smells of oil. No engine light on though.
Anyone have any updates on this problem?? All my warranties have run out![]()
The code is p0035, when I googled that code under cadillac ats error code p0035, it showed me camshaft positioning sensor. I replaced it and no change in symptoms. I looked at the wire connected to the sensor and it looked intact. As far as tracing it back to the ECU I have not checked that. Is the ecu located in the front passenger side?Is the code you are getting p0340 which IS a camshaft position sensor code? P0035 indicates a problem with the turbocharger bypass control which your 2.5 doesn't have.
Did you replace the CPS? If so double check the connector and wiring around it and the connectors at the ECM end also.

Unless Cadillac redefined the codes away from OBD II standard for the 2.5L, which is not likely, the OBD II industry standard code definitions can be found here and P0035 references the turbo bypass valve sensor/controller: P00xx OBD-II Powertrain DTC Trouble CodesThe code is p0035, when I googled that code under cadillac ats error code p0035, it showed me camshaft positioning sensor. For info on it's location and how it can cause sensor faults, check out this excellent info by halcyonn:As far as tracing it back to the ECU I have not checked that. Is the ecu located in the front passenger side?
Hi GFX, what were you able to find out? I just took mine in for the same symptoms and they charged me over $800 for a new fuse box and cables. And 10 minutes later, it starts doing the same crap. Door locks go off and on, traction control comes on and then the engine shuts down. When we pull it over and put it in park to start it the Stabillitrak Service light comes on and then it starts...though not instantly. So I encountered somewhat of the same issue.
Driving down the highway, my 2013 2.5L ATS stalled. It.took maybe 30 seconds to get running again. OneI turned it on, the service stabiltrak message appeared on the dash. Thecar was very under powered and the RPM gauge.stopped working.
What I replaced so far from suggestions.
All 4 coil packs and plugs.
Camshaft positioning sensor as that code appears twice on the obd2 reader.
After replacing all this. I still have the same symptoms and the code p0035 keeps poping up which is the camshaft postioning sensor. Please advise before I take it to the stealer.
My 2016 Cadillac ATS 2.5 Luxury has been sitting at the dealership for over 4 months...same issues. They charged me $800 for ua fuse box and new cables. Then $600 for a fuel pump module yet still the same issue. They have no idea what it is...working the Cadillac but nothing yet.My goodness! My 2016 ATS is having the same issues. On the freeway it just started to shake violently and the stabilitrak indicator came on, along with the engine light flashing, and both the T/C and traction lights stayed on. Lucky for me this happened while i was coming off the freeway, and I parked it at a car repair shop. Hopefully this won’t hurt much in the pocket due to the upcoming holiday season.
