New 2020 XT4 purchase gone bad!

I'm beyond frustrated. Purchased 2020 XT4 less than two months ago. This vehicle is supposed to have been a returned lease and is CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED (supposed to come with extra inspections to assure quality assurance). I noticed squealing from the brakes and asked the dealer to look at is within a few weeks of driving the vehicle. After receiving no call later that day telling me the vehicle is ready, I call the dealer the next day only to be told that the vehicle has an oil leak from cam shaft carrier (in addition to the brake issue that had a previous bulletin regarding it). My vehicle sat a the dealership for weeks. When I finally reached someone for a status update, I'm told they are awaiting difficult to obtain parts. When I finally receive my car after approximately three weeks, when they pull it up into the bay I think "it sounds loud". But I thought...."well maybe it's just the air conditioner". After driving it a few days, I now see it is not the air conditioner, the vehicle is now LOUD! It sounds like a 1995 Oldsmobile or something. I'm extremely frustrated. My trade in which was a 1995 vehicle was in better shape than this one it seems. This is NOT the car buying experience you want. All the thrill of purchasing a new car is gone! First Cadillac and my stomach is turned already.

I'm sorry for your experience.

Unfortunately, CPO does mean something but it doesn't mean everything is perfect.

Can you elaborate on loud? Are you saying that the engine is loud or maybe the exhaust is loud? If the latter, it is quite possible that your dealership accidentally damaged the exhaust system while they worked on it. I don't know where the camshaft carrier is on a Cadillac 2.0T but if they had to remove and reinstall the exhaust manifold, it's possible that they didn't do that part carefully and/or they didn't change the manifold gasket. Again, I'm just spitballing here as I do not know if they had to touch the exhaust to do the camshaft carrier job. I would take it to another dealership or take it back to your dealership. These are good cars but unfortunately there are good and not-so-good dealerships.

Thanks for the feedback! When I went back in today, they brought in another XT4 with the 350 engine to compare noise. I had to admit, they sounded about the same. With that in mind, it made me think that I'm likely hyper sensitive after learning my new purchase has an oil leak. Maybe I didn't notice the somewhat noisy engine until now? I do still have a warranty and they are extending my powertrain for peace of mind. So hopefully, everything from this point will be okay. Please dear Lord!

I have the same car as yours and mine is quite loud, especially on acceleration. It's my biggest complaint about this car but it is completely normal, they all are the same, and nothing can be done to quiet it down. You either have to get used to it or trade it in on something that isn't powered by a 4 cylinder turbo engine....or just turn up the radio.

I've gotten used to the noise like others here but the XT4 engine noise level is unacceptable. In my experiences, other American 4 cylinder Turbos are much quieter.
I own a '21 Ford Explorer with the 2.3 Ecoboost (turbo) and its no louder than our previous non-turbo V6 Explorer. In fact, when pulling a hill, its much quieter. I'm on vacation now and my rental is a '23 Ford Edge 2.0 4 cyl. Ecoboost. Its quieter than my '21 Explorer and so quiet I can't believe it IS a turbo.

CPO is a USED vehicle. When you say “All the thrill of purchasing a new car is gone”. Did they lead you to believe at the dealership that you were actually purchasing a NEW vehicle? I believe that Certified PRE OWNED says it all, does it not?

Words have meaning, otherwise why speak them. “All the thrill of purchasing a new car is gone”, your exact quote. You’ve learned a valuable lesson. CPO. You were bamboozeled by one of the oldest marketing scams in the book.
Should you ever have the opportunity to purchase a real NEW car, do yourself a favor now and google “four square”. Again, onew of the oldest gimmicks car salesmen still use today.
And instead of telling me you don’t like my tone, try saying Thank You. I’ve just given you a nugget of wisdom that just may save you money the next time you decide to purchase a vehicle.

Your welcome

I hate trolls. At the end of the day, it is not unreasonable to have an expectation that a certified preowned vehicle would have certain (basic) things inspected prior to sale as advertised. That's not an unreasonable expectation. Could you stop speaking to me as I have requested. I'm no longer speaking with you.
